It was worth it, for a 5 day trip.

Posted Jan 9, 2017
Pros: Location from airport, and property overall.
Overall it was a great experience. When I checked in I mentioned that since it was Christmas if there were a free upgrade. To my surprise the person behind the counter said "sure". He showed me the picture of the club room, the one with the jacuzzi in the room. Then asked me if I wanted to pay $85 for this room. I said "No thats fine, Ill take my original room" when I said that he decided "Its ok, then I will give it to you for free" I was super excited but that was short lived. As I'm walking away going to my room, an events coordinator in the lobby stopped me and asked if I just checked in. When I looked at her clipboard and found my name. The "free" upgrade he gave me was the room I was already assigned to!!! With that being said, If I did decide to pay the $85 for the upgrade. I would have been paying for a room that is already mine! Food: Not bad. Same choices everyday, but they change them up by adding different sides and sauces. Breakfast was tasty. The restaurant reservations. The system is ridiculous. you need to make a reservation from 8am - 2pm. but most excursion pick you up from the hotel before 8am. I tried making a reservation when I got back at 2:30pm. The lady said she couldn't, and I complained. She then put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back with 6 availablitites for that restaurant. Excursions in the lobby are some of the cheapest I came across. Dont pay more than $60 per person, for day trips.

The rooms need a little tlc. While we were there they were replacing the tables in the rooms. They left the old tables in the hallways for a few days. Room service from guest before us was also left in hallway for 2 days!! Housekeeping did their best with the room but the furniture is just old. Never rode the elevator, it runs slow. And there was not enough of them. Stairwells behind the elevator were filthy. It is what it is though, a resort for the kids more than anything. We stayed 5 days would not stay longer. The kids paradise with water slides was really nice, kids loved it. Pools, beach, zip line and restaurants were all very good. overall, it's an ok resort. A lot of things to do to keep the kids busy. If you are traveling without kids, stay somewhere else.

Overall a nice resort for families with kids

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Very close to the beach and the beach is quite clean. Has 3 pools - 2 outdoor and 1 indoor plus slides and a small water park from kids. I am not sure about all the rooms but our room had an excellent view of the pool and ocean, however, the room, especially the bathroom, could have been a tad more decorated and a bit more cleaner. Overall the food was great had a lot of choices except Dec 31st night when almost everything was meat and we as vegetarians had tough time finding stuff to eat.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Pros: The food and the Bar.
Cons: None
Location: Beach and water activities.
We spent seven days with my 10 year old daughter on this hotel. I found this hotel from the book I read. The author highly recommend this hotel, which is very true, the most value hotel in Cancun. The experience is no difference in the in the five star hotel but you save Big bucks. This is all inclusive hotel so you don't need to worry how much you will spend each day. The food are plenty in each restaurant. We like the Buffet restaurant the best because it serve the Asian food a lot. My daughter and my wife love this restaurant. We ate there almost every day. The food is much better that Las Vegas Treasury Island which cost us 25 USD per person and don't forget to the Bar at the lobby and ask them to make you the Martine. It cost $6.00 in the USA and you can drink as much you want. No question to ask.

Only book here if you have children

Posted Jan 3, 2017
Some of the rooms are updated and some are pretty old and grungy feeling. We started off in a older room and moved to a newer room to be closer to my family once they arrived. I was much happier in the newer room as I felt it was cleaner. I give the adult pool an A++, Alberto is a top notch bartender and Poula aka " sexy Poula " ( as she refers to herself ) keeps the fun and entertainment going. I would only recommend this resort to families with young children. Also, I didn't care for how they ran their restaurants on the resort. You had to book a reservation a day in advance via phone between 8am-2pm a day in advance, otherwise you ate at the buffet every night. I must say all the staff were top notch though! I give this resort 3 stars

The Ugly, the Bad and the Good

Posted Jan 2, 2017
Pros: Luiz @ the beach bar, Angel @ the Seafood restaurant, & Adolfo @ the Mexican restaurant were the BEST! Nicole tried to help w/the theft & was sweet.
Cons: Lunch stinks. You have an Asian buffet & pool food (hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos & cooked cabbage EVERY day).Main buffet requires clothes/sitting down,
Location: We did a ziplining, cenote (cave swimming), Tulum excursion through Edventures. It was great.
We had stayed at this hotel once before during the summer and chose to return because it was a good price for the holiday season. The good price bit us in the butt though. THE UGLY: On our third day we left the property to go on an excursion. I left my cell on the nightstand as I had used it for an alarm clock for our early departure. When we returned it was gone as well as the cash from my daughter's backpack. Everything else was in the lock box. Of course, since it was not in the lock box, they immediately told us we would be out of luck. The door lock was checked and only the maid and beverage cart guy were in our room. They both denied it (duh). The hotel did offer us 3 nights at the hotel on our last day there. We said no way as we do not want to return. The same night I went to give my son his medicine and noticed a blue puddle under the medicine container. All of the medicine inside had blue cleaner all over it as well. Nicole, the manager, called 6 different pharmacies to find the medication, and the hotel covered the cost of the replacement.

Every room is loud

Posted Dec 29, 2016
Pros: The facilities are nice and clean. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. They have shops on site for anything you may have forgotten.
Cons: The loud lobby activities should be moved to an area that will not echo throughout the hotel.
Location: The location was safe, but a bit boring. In a way we felt a little confined to the strip of private beach owned by our hotel. Nothing but other hotels
My family and I had a lovely time at this hotel. There is plenty to explore and lots of activities. The grounds are clean and the facilities are plenty nice. The beach waves are a little rough, but so warm and so much fun for the bigger kids. The only thing we could not get over is the loudness of the lobby and how that sound permeated into our room on the seventh floor each night. We tried to maintain a regular bedtime for the children during our vacation, about 9pm, but the party in the lobby rattled our door until 10 or 11pm each night. The hotel is shaped like a hive with a hollow center so no matter how far away you are from the bustle, you still hear every word echoing up through the center.

Great place for families with kids-not for couples

Posted Dec 28, 2016
We 1st came here in 1996 & again 5 more times up until 2001. It was so great back then! We came back for our 20th anniversary last week--big letdown!! It is geared for families with small kids. They were everywhere! The room was dated. We stayed in the Crown Tower (8th floor) for adults only. The shower is a stand up with no shower seat. Ladies need somewhere to put our legs for shaving. I had to turn a trashcan upside down for this. Also, they only offer a tabletop mini ironing board. I iron everything so this was a big problem! Alicia, the chambermaid, was faboulas! She made animals out of towels everyday--so cute! Also, we don't drink sodas so requested she only refill the fridge with bottled water. She took excellent care of us! The Crown Club Lounge is a great place for adult breakfast although the food is always cold! I think it is brought from the buffet downstairs so its cold by the time it gets to the 8th floor. Isaac took great care of us & warmed our food in the microwave. He was great everyday! Nerarjo (I'm sorry if the spelling is wrong) at Wayne's Steakhouse was a great waiter! The manager there (on the night of 12/19) was a jerk!Gerardo, Albreth & Melchor are simply the best! Paola (activity director) is also very good at her job!All food was bad & cold except for Italian rest. If you have kids this is for you. If you are a couple & want quiet & relaxing go somewhere else! We will always have great memories of yrs ago here but will not return.
