We had a decent day here, even though most people in my group got sick from what is likely the buffet. The beach is all right. The waves are a little frequent and there was always a red flag on part of the beach, which is why we recommend going to Riu Caribe for beach. I think more of the pools should be heate, especially that level six pool and oceanfront pool. Staff was very friendly and quick to help. It would have been more enjoyable if they had an outdoor jacuzzi/hot tub. The staff were hard workers and the resort entertainment was enjoyable. The ocean beach view was fantastic from the top floor although I did notice a musty odour on the 13th floor. The rooms were newly decorated and clean since the resort opened in Dec 2025\. Unfortunately, we were warned about the Noro virus/Norwalk/food poisoning from a few people who were staying there and leaving the resort. Day 6 of 9 I came down with food poisoning and was sick in bed for 2 days and then my hubby got it so we missed enjoying about 3 days total of our vacation including the day we checked out. I mentioned it a few times to the front desk staff but they did not seem alarmed and didn’t respond in the way that one should take action to take such an illness seriously. We couldn’t eat and had to ask staff at the buffet to find crackers. And the kid pool was for little kids not for teens. Shows were not that exciting and nothing for teens. Food never changed and was exactly the same each day from morning until night. The 24 hour sports bar is not 24 hours. Steak house needed reservations 3 days before. All the others did not require reservations but you couldn’t get into any of them if you didn’t get there right at 6pm. Buffet food made me sick. I tipped everyone including the person cleaning our room and upon checkout the resort tried sticking some obscene charges on our room. They said they had to clean up a bag of pee! Pee! Are you kidding me? We are not that kind of people and this was absolutely unacceptable. Not to mention that Expedia was supposed to book our transportation from the airport to the resort but no one ever came and we had to fork out $240 to get to the resort. Both Expedia and the resort refused to refund any money.
