"Great location, beautiful property"

"This is a refurbished stately old hotel, with huge rooms and a very friendly staff. It's about a half mile from the French quarter and much quieter (Lafayette park is right next door). There's an excellent restaurant kitty- corner and a well regarded steak house next door within the building. There's also a very good grocery store two blocks away which has a good selection of wines and beers and take out foods. "

"Overall the hotel was a good choice for New Orleans. It is off of Bourbon Street (but close). The location of the hotel could be better. It faces a street that definitely has some shady characters hanging out; like most streets in New Orleans French Quarter. Budget wise it is a very good value for the money. Rooms were clean and spacious. Our TV in the room did have a black line running down the center of the screen, but we spent little time watching TV. Major downside had to be the supplied toiletries in the bathroom. Shampoo, body wash etc., were in the smallest plastic containers and were only good for one or two uses before opening another. Even though there were drawbacks to the hotel, I would still recommend a stay at this location."

"Staff uncooperative, front desk kept play on the phone when I checked in. Misleading regarding parking and breakfast as both for extra money. Bed was twin while I booked king.I should have two beverages for free, did not happen. Valet parking is terrible, he brought my car toward the end of street, on a rainy day, and when asked, all this side is valet pick up and was rude. "
