“The room was old and dingy had a moldy smell when we walked in housekeeping in that room for check-in was OK and the living spaces but I found someone’s used washcloth under the bathroom sink. also, the outside door stuck you had to use Force to open it, and the screen door kept popping off the balcony area is not taken care of at all in the room. The price of the room for two nights at almost 450 a night did not match the standards that we were greeted with. If I’m paying this much for a room,……

“No problems with checking in - the guy was very nice and helpful. The hotel was only open for three months after being closed for a year and a half for remodeling. We were on the first floor (the elevator was broke, which didn't affect us) away from the lobby and had no noise issues, though we got there later and were getting up earlier. “Fantastic room! Great for couples! Fans and air-conditioning kept the room nice and cool. Shower was amazing. Everything was very clean! Cons- There are no hooks in the bathroom sink area to hang your hand towels. There was only a small square table right next to the toilet, where you could put your items and the hand towels, which was very awkward. The bed was just okay; it was sinking in the middle. “The Mariner is a great place to stay. Our room had an ocean view and beach access right on the property. The room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay at the Mariner the next time we visit the Outer Banks.”

The room seemed to have not been rented in a long time so not sure if it had not been cleaned/checked in a long time or they just did the bare minimum when they cleaned it for turn over to next reservation. Dead insects in the bathroom floor and a shower and sink area that had clearly not been cleaned. (Something resembling blood spots in the sink) Damp/dirty bath towels folded on the bathroom shelf.
