Perfect getaway.
"Stayed in the 1 bedroom villa. Perfect for a couple with 2 kids. All amenities included. Lovely getaway for a weekend . Kids enjoyed the activities. Was too cold to use the beach club. Would return in Summer for those activities."

"I booked this hotel in error thinking I was booking the other Protea Marriot but no harm done! Just check if you are in town as there are two.
The hotel is located in a street with shops, bars, coffee shops etc and you can walk down to a shopping area near by. Everything in the immediate area seems nice, clean, safe.
The hotel has nice and quite quirky decorated public areas, bar, and pool area. Its a nice place to relax. Wifi was good.
The room was nice too, a cool laid back feel with soft blue and white tones. There's not much of a view as its a city location. The bed was comfy and the linen all nice and clean and fresh. The AC in the room is quiet and effective.
The front desk staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful.
Recommended for business trips etc. "

"We were in Durban for a junior tennis competition. So there were a few of us staying at the hotel.
I had read the reviews about staff friendliness; but I suspected that they might be slightly untrue, given that the reviews were always so good.
Oh my god - the staff are amazing. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world - and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is just as fantastic.
Yes - sure - there are more presentable parts of the beach further north up the coast - that is probably true - however, this area is just fine. Much more exciting. Much more in touch with the locals. And the hotel could not get closer to the beach. In fact - I think it is the closest hotel to the beach, in the whole of Durban.
And all the rooms have sea views. And because the hotel literally looks onto the promenade - if you love watching people, you will not get bored at looking out of your window for hours on end watching the activity below.
On top of it all - great restaurant and room service in house. Plus some more places to eat just minutes away. And having a full kitchen in the room is also a massive bonus.
We can't wait to go back in a few months time."
