"The front desk staff were not welcoming, and their attitude during check-in was disappointing. It made the experience feel uncomfortable from the start. We stayed here for a family trip over the long weekend and had multiple reservations. To save time, I came first to check in one room under my name while the rest of my family parked the car, brought in luggage, and planned to check in later. However, the issue was the front desk staff member’s attitude.When my family members arrived and also wanted to check in, his attitude suddenly became noticeably impatient and rude. At first, I thought maybe he could only process one reservation at a time because the check-in setup didn’t even look like a proper front desk, and I honestly considered asking another staff member to help us instead.He then said that if we had told him earlier that we had multiple reservations, he could have arranged our rooms together. I thanked him and politely told him that it was totally fine if the rooms were not together. Instead of simply moving forward, his attitude became even worse. He handled everything extremely slowly while acting visibly annoyed and unfriendly.During just a few minutes of check-in, he made guests feel genuinely uncomfortable. I was not expecting overly cheerful service or even a smile, just basic professionalism and courtesy.Management should seriously consider better training and whether certain employees are suited for front desk positions."

"I want to start by saying the staff was fabulous!! Everyone from the time I arrived until the time I left was so nice and accommodating. HOWEVER, the room I stayed in left soooo much to be desired. From terrible scratches on the wall to a spot on my shower curtains that looked like an old booger..... I took plenty of photos. But it made no sense that the lobby felt like I was staying at a wonderful resort while the room felt like I was staying in a motel 6. I hope they make improvements very soon because I did not feel very confident in the cleanliness of my room at all."

"The place was old it’s like many years did not upgrade,the bed was very very uncomfortable,Room was stinky the door inside had a lot of scratches and some Coler gone the staff didn’t have really energy to welcome you or on check out same over all 1/5 star only"

Oakland Marriott City Center

"Centrally located in Oakland, this Marriott must have renovated from the last time I visited. They’re going for a more chic urban vibe in the decor. Front desk was super helpful in getting checked in and I appreciated we got to tell them up front we wouldn’t need housekeeping. Unfortunately the room was not very well maintained. There were a lot of missed details, like (3 glasses instead of 4 for the ice bucket and bathroom), the fitted sheet was barely tucked in, and there was a layer of film and dust on the toilet and on the back of the bathroom counter. Details you miss when you’re in a hurry. Likely they are short staffed or management isn’t giving housekeeping adequate time to turn over rooms. The bed was otherwise comfortable and the shower was very nice with a detachable showerhead. The view from the 7th floor was beautiful + there was a mini fridge to store our items in. All and all, I would stay here again."
