Built in 1833 many well known members of Southern Aristocracy have family plots here including, members of the families of three signers of the Declaration of Independence and the first secretary of the Confederate Treasury.
Pulitzer Prize winning poet and author Carl Sandburg would live in this home, named Connemara by its previous owner, from 1945 until his death in 1967. His wife would leave the property, home and all the furnishings to the National Park Service in 1968.

The beautiful Little Bradley Falls which is much easier (and safer) to reach that the larger Big Bradley Falls. A pleasant walk through the forest will lead you to this beauty although there is a creek crossing that require you to get your feet wet if the water level is high.
