“ Beautiful views of the Davis Mountains. The property had everything we needed.”

“Our stay at the High Frontier Resort was only 3 days in the middle of the week, so we had the entire place to ourselves. Check-in was quick and easy, as our room keys were waiting and available at the door. Maggie (our hostess) stopped by the next day for a quick introduction and to make sure we had everything we needed. The property is a larger acreage ranch with several separate homes and studio style lodging. The views of the surrounding Davis Mountain area are incredible, especially from……

“This is a very unique property. The photos don't reveal how large the studio is. Linens, toiletries, coffee, etc. are all top-shelf. The location provides quiet solitude, great vistas, an opportunity to see wildlife, and great night-sky viewing. It is only a few miles south of Fort Davis, and the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center is directly across the road from the entrance (highly recommended). We would definitely stay here again.”

“Best hotel in Alpine! Clean, comfortable and located near surrounding sightseeing destinations. Staff was great and the little extra amenities, like snacks, were an added bonus.”

“It's an historic hotel. Goes back to 1929. Really cool vibe there. The elevator was broken down, though. Walking up a long wide cement stairway to the second floor carrying suitcases was a little dicey. The bathroom is tiny. The rooms are small but nice. The cast of the movie Giant stayed there in 1955. There is no breakfast except complimentary muffins and coffee. It's a nice old hotel, well maintained (mostly). We enjoyed our stay.”

“Door was not easy to lock with doorknob lock and that was an issue since there was no deadbolt. No person at location for check in. It took a trip across town to get a room key from the desk guy of another hotel. Rustic is the vibe they were shooting for, but I would just call the overall condition old and tired. Expedia would not let me post the picture I took of the chair in the room that looked more like a refugee from a landfill that a piece of hotel furniture.”
