While this hotel is at some distance from Motohakone (20mins easy walk on a mostly flat road), we found the property absolutely gorgeous, the lakeside views priceless, and the onsen just perfect. It was my friend's first time at the onsen and he loved it! The service was also topnotch and the hotel restaurants were both very good (we tried the French cuisine as well as the traditional Japanese cuisine). I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for an all-inclusive, relaxing vacation in Hakone!

Restaurants timings are too short. One of the 3 restaurants should be able to accommodate people arriving late for check in. In room dinning experience was not good.

The property has a fantastic location right by Hakone Lake. However it is short staffed--for example the concierge desk and information desk are not staffed--and the rooms are in dire need of renovation. The room interior is worn and looks 40 years old

To begin with, the shuttle bus from Odawara station was 15-20 minutes late with no communication to us. The rooms and public spaces needed some tending to (worn carpets, AC that didn't work, etc.) There was no bar at the hotel--and the staff treated us like we were crazy for even asking. The buffet meals were fine--but definitely not for the price point. There were very limited options for things to do at the property (no public sitting room overlooking the lake, no seats outside to take in the scenery, etc.). The staff were not terribly hospitable--not rude, but definitely not concerned with hospitality. It is a hotel with great potential that is poorly managed. All in all, quite disappointing for the price (over $500/night).
