It is an older style of onsen. It has history and depth of character. It is very beautiful to be in and the many baths are wonderful to choose from. I stayed here in 2016 and it is still extremely well run. The staff are gorgeous and attentive. There are great sightseeing trips to make nearby.
We did not like the food. There should be more options for foreign tourists. Also facility was a old.

The onsens available were great and we utilized them to the fullest! The rooms were spacious, we were given the full traditional ryokan experience with meals in the room and bed on the floor. Unfortunately the wifi in our room didn't work so we needed to use data which was slightly inconvenient. The facilities itself were clean but had the old smell, will need to be renovated soon. The staff were very pleasant and tried their best to communicate with us despite the language barrier. Would recommend for anyone wanting to try for their first experience!

They charged us an extra $300 for my two children to be able to stay in our room with us. Extraordinarily expensive and they would not consider letting us leave our bags for an hour while we went out to lunch despite how heavy it was raining. We offered to pay to leave our bags, we also offered payment for a ride that was about five mins from their location since it was raining heavily and we had our two little kids with us. The inability to be flexible on any level was frustrating given how expensive our stay was.
My partner & I travelled around Japan for 5 weeks, staying in quite a few ryokans along the way. This property was excellent in every respect. Quality accommodation, reasonably priced, top class food, wonderful helpful staff, & delightful views (especially loved the magical treed settings surrounding the outdoor onsens). Definitely rates as being up there with the best! Loved the traditional experience with more than a touch of class to make it even more enjoyable. You won’t be disappointed!!
