"The private onsen were phenomenal. The onsen in the room was also amazing. The main clerk made sure to explain everything he could about the room, the baths, and the entirety of the building. Breakfast was also amazing, a large spread of what I hope is a traditional Japanese breakfast. "

"It was quiet and safe, and most of all, it was nice to have a choice for dinner. I was served a Japanese course meal for dinner and I was very satisfied."

"This hotel is so far out of town that walking in to town isnโt really an option (at least a hour walk) and the buses only run every half hour.
As for the room itself, when you enter the bottom of the stairwell, you can turn on the light at the bottom but not the top. So you have to walk up into pitch black and use a flashlight to find the light switch at the top. The room barely cooled off, even with us blasting the AC units.
Other than that, the rooms were nice and the onsen had a very pretty...

"Great location if youโre visiting Hyotan Onsen etc.
En-suite showers are a little small, and the hot water isnโt very hot (which is strange for a hotel with a hot spring). Not a big deal though because you could just go downstairs and shower in the on site hot spring.
The Rooms had a great view of the city and the sea.
Overall pretty decent place."

"Service staff was excellent. Had stayed in Nijikan and Hoshi Kan on separate nights. Staff had helped to transfer my bags and brought over my beverage that I had left in the fridge to the new room. Thoughtful gesture that had impressed me."
"Lovely stay and super attentive staff. My bed was a bit soft. The free onsen usage on site was great. The resturant appeared to have a bigger menu than the limited Shabu Shabu that was shown in English, I wish we had known about that as the other patrons food looked amazing. Lots to do in walking distance from the hotel and free parking on site. "
"Incredible place with top value. Choose the room with private outdoor hot spring. The meals are so delectable. The service is unmatched โ it was raining as we drove up and a staff member rushed out to give us each an opened umbrella. The room and amenities are amazing."

"Hotel was centrally located near the Kanawa Bus Station/Hells Pools/food steam restaurant. 10min walk from the bus station. The hotel was clean & has an onsen! Tatami rooms w/a kitchen, tiny bathroom (ship size). It is an older hotel, but it was perfect for us. The young man running the hotel was so nice and pleasant. We had a slight translation issue but used our google translate. Perfect area and close to the main sights. 20 min to JR Beppu station by bus from the Kanawa Bus Station. We arrived at the Beppudaigaku Station (walk across the street to get the local bus to Kanawa bus station 15min ride). The hotel is older but was perfect to experience a real ryokan (tatami floor & futons). Sauna & onsen on 1st floor. 7-11 across from Kanawa bus stop. This hotel is not in the city center of Beppu, but in the outskirts. But walkable to the sights. Take a bus to Yufuin-50 min from Kanawa station. Rate is super reasonable (we stayed 4 nights). I chose this location becuz I wanted to be near the Hells pools. Excellent location, rate, clean...perfect for us and we have stayed at the Tokyo Station hotel, so we know what the difference is and was perfectly satisfied with this property. "
