"TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS HOTEL SALEM ON OUR STAY. We checked-in late around 9 PM. After being outside watching 2 college baseball games in the cold, we just wanted to go to the hotel and go to sleep. The first issue was my keycard was NOT opening the door so I used my wife's keycard which worked. The second issue was the left sink was not draining, luckily the right sink was working. The third issue was the body wash container was empty so we used the small hand bar soap when taking a shower. The fourth issue was they had 2 maintenance workers come in our room in the morning to check the fire sprinkler while we were in the room eating breakfast. We checked out the next morning and the front desk person said their system was down. I informed the front desk these issues at check out so they can fix it for the next person staying in that room. I travel a lot and this was not a pleasant experience at the Hotel Salem. "

"If visiting OSU and convenient location to campus is your primary concern, this place is it. Don’t expect anything else. The $18.00 per night breakfast charge is represented at the property as a “complimentary breakfast”. Usually complimentary means it’s free or included in the room price, not an extra charge. The WiFi, that’s free… if you join their club. Don’t bring a car, unless you want to pay $10/night to keep in there. Housekeeping… that only comes every OTHER day, so don’t expect to come back from your busy OSU visit to a made-up bed and clean towels. Oh, you thought you’d enjoy the jacuzzi for 30 mins before bed (posted 10PM close). Forget that too… the housekeeper that didn’t clean your room will be promptly closing the pool at 9:50PM for cleaning. Breakfast hours are advertised (6:00-10:00a). So, the next morning, you stroll down to enjoy the “complimentary” breakfast (that you paid for) and arrive at 8:55 only to find half of the hot food items are empty. Completely gone. The staff member behind the counter informs you that he wasn’t planning to keep it full because “breakfast is almost over.” Hmm… so during 25% of the posted breakfast hours, the buffet may be empty. Of course, they could make a special batch, if you want to wait around. Overall, the staff are friendly enough, but clearly management is looking to cut every possible corner, cut every service, and charge extra for every amenity that most properties include in the room price. "

"The BEST hotel we have ever stayed at. It was so quiet, clean and had everything we needed. The food at the restaurant was delicious and convenient. The breakfast was great too! I just can’t say enough good things about this hotel. We missed it the minute we pulled out of the parking lot :) "

"Room was clean and very spacious. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast was nice (we especially enjoyed the cinnamon rolls). Gym is on the smaller side but clean. Did not use the pool but it looked inviting. Would stay here again!"

"Ants in my first room. Got second room because I needed a room for disabled. Expedia messed this up. This was not a choice on Expedia. I asked for it via contact with property. They did not receive it. I had to pay extra for the ADA room and it was/is very nice. (Extended my stay for unforseen reasons.)"

"GREAT place to stay in downtown Salem, in fact, the only place I would want to stay. Kiru was great at giving us directions, Reese with handling our checkout, and the nighttime security guard was great at helping me feel safe when I stepped outside for a late night uber delivery. "
