Wonderful Colonial rustic hotel, with a very good location near downtown, very clean with great staff. Also very relaxing because it is far from the touristy area.

Great location to beach and townPosted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: The staff they were so kind and friendly.
Cons: AC in the restaurant. The pizza restaurant was so hot from the pizza oven it was unbearable with the 90 percent humidity in July.
Location: Great location. Get out on beach and eat at the local restaurants they are great. I never had a bad meal they were all fantastic.
Nice quaint hotel in middle of La Madera Beach, the hotel sits up on the short side of a mountain over looking the beach. Having said this there are steps everywhere I definitely would not recommend this hotel to someone who has trouble getting around or is out of shape. It's all downhill to the beach and all uphill stairs back. Town is very close by, it also is all downhill going and all uphill coming back to the hotel. The road coming back in front of hotel is about 30 yards straight up. You can take a taxi to town but the walk really is short and not too bad. Most places I have been in Mexico take dollars but you will need pesos when you go into town, you also will need to know some Spanish. The staff at the hotel speak great English but the restaurant servers and people in the market know very little. This would be a great place to do an emmersion program. Over all I was very satisfied and happy with this vacation.

An oasis on the beachPosted Jul 5, 2015 on Hotels
Hotel Aura del Mar is an oasis on the coast. This boutique hotel is perfectly situated on the beach. It's a 10 minute walk along the lovely Malacon into town. The restaurant at Aura de Mar is very good and the breakfasts are very generous. They would benifit from a coffee machine but then so would most of Mexico. Our room was luxurious and spotless. My wife had an exquisite facial and massage in the spa by a very experienced beautition. We loved the whole Aura del Mar experience.

Wonderful authentic town, and a fantastic townPosted Jun 4, 2015
If you are wanting a real Mexican town and experience, not one that has been americanized like so many Mexican cities, this is the place to go. Yes the outskirts are pretty run down but once you enter the main town it's heavenly. Quant cobblestone lined streets with such wonderful friendly locals. As soon as we arrived at our hotel we were given a cold rag for our becks to cool down and a bottle of water. The employees did everything in there power to make our stay great. The restaurant was a bit expensive but delicious. We mostly opted for the little cafes on the beach for fish tacos and ceviche. Overall a wonderful stay I highly recommend staying at this hotel!
