I booked the hotel by mistake because my destination was London England, not London Ontario. One month before the check in date (May 19, 2023) I realized the mistake and contacted both Expedia and the property see if I could cancel the booking and get my money back. I clearly stated if the hotel couldn’t rent out my room then they didn’t need to make any refund. After numerous emails between myself and Expedia, and several phone calls directly to the hotel, one of which got hung up, I was told that the policy stayed and there will be no refund whatsoever. I don’t think it’s fair because the no show was not intended and the room could have been re-sell to someone who was in need. (I learned that the hotel was fully booked on May the 19th, 2023, and the hotel had to leave my room empty if no refund issued) I hence gave the hotel the lowest rate possible to reflect the poor policy and the management there. I also would take the opportunity to remind travellers to pay close attention to the destinations while booking. There are many names that are identical. “London” is not necessarily in UK and “Paris” has various locations around the world.
