Through Way Beach House

Through Way Beach House is directly across the road from the beach. It is a basic 3 bedroom older style house and is self contained with a double carport and space for extra parking. There is an ensuite in main bedroom (shower, toilet, basin) plus another bathroom (basin and bath with shower head) plus a separate toilet. Offers bedding including pillows and blankets and light weight doonas, although would like VISITORS TO BRING OWN BED LINEN AND TOWELS. Some people choose to bring sleeping bags.
The bedrooms sleep 8 people altogether 2 double beds and 2 bunks. The house can get COLD DURING COOLER MONTHS and can HEAT UP ON HOT SUMMER DAYS. There is an electric wall heater in the lounge area. Although there is no air-conditioning, there's a ceiling fan in the lounge room and also one in the main bedroom. There's 2 electric portable fans for the 2 other bedrooms. An LCD digital television is situated in the lounge area. The kitchen is fully equipped to make a meal for a large family, including a KETTLE for your morning cuppa. House is one price only, for up to 8 people.
NO Wifi.
NO PETS. NO SCHOOLIES. NO GROUPS UNDER THE AGE OF 25 YEARS.
PLEASE NOTE this house was built years ago. If you're after modern, please don't book this house.


Locality

The house is 25mins from Geelong. The beach is a 4min walk away (walk a further 20 mins for the patrolled beach), maybe stopping off at the Dawn Cafe for coffee or hot food. There's a kids playground behind the cafe. Continue on another 5mins to the local family friendly pub for a bistro meal - has kids play area with trampolines.
The main shopping street with a supermarket is just a drive away, or maybe go north, to Ocean Groves Market Place filled with more shops and a supermarket.
Plenty of options outside of Ocean Grove such as the adventure water park (advertised on tv) 12mins, Queenscliff to catch the ferry over to Sorrento, or even to go fishing on the pier.

This old school beach house is in a fantastic location directly opposite the beach, and just a short drive into town. It is an aging home but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Michelle was an excellent host and quick to respond and provide assistance when we experienced a heating problem. This was my second stay in this house and I would not hesitate to book again.

Great location for a stay.

Very clean house with everything we needed for our few nights. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Couldn't ask for a better location, just a short walk to the beach. Host was great to deal with. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Well stocked with some unwanted company

Property is well stocked with everything you need and our stay would've been perfect if there was no moth infestation, the whole house smelt of moth balls. We disposed of over 50 moths on arrival, we found the experience amusing and had lots of laughs chasing the moths out. However, by the time we went to bed we had a pile of an additional 50 dead moths building up and 1 or 2 would pop up every 15 mins or so. Also the double bed mattress needs attention, we only stayed 2 nights so it was bearable but not comfortable.

Great location, lovely host.

For the price, it was nice. Old, drafty and not sound proofed at all. When the kids woke up, their voices reverberated all through the house making it impossible to sleep in. Even the Kettle sound was so loud that it didn’t feel like any of the doors in between were closed. The toilet was extremely loud and the main bathroom shower water goes everywhere because there is no shower curtain or screen. It’s a shame that in this day and age there is no internet and having to bring my own Manchester and linen was disappointing because it now means I have a huge pile of washing when I get home.

Affordable Beach Escape

Great sized property which made week long stay super easy. Lots of vintage charm from tiles in kitchens and bathrooms. Lots of character. Be aware that the stumps at one end of the house are not cross braced. If you have heavy people in your holiday party the house will sway and bounce!!
