8.4/10 Very Good! (1,003 reviews)
The hotel is absolutely fine with really friendly and very accommodating staff (eg storing luggage after check out). The room was fine and clean with a decent en suite, decent air con and a ceiling fan too. My only negative was a mosquito that kept buzzing me during the night, despite the insect screens on the window and door out into the courtyard. There was some noise at night from partygoers nearby (if it hadn’t been for the mosquito I might have slept through it). I didn’t use the available games room or the free coffee during the day, but they were good options for some of the guests. My expectation for the “complimentary breakfast” was fairly low, but I was proved completely wrong by a good variety of hot and cold food which was a good start to the day.
The street immediately outside the hotel was a little run down, but a very short walk takes you to the upmarket Cowper Wharf and beyond that are the Botanic Gardens leading to the iconic Circular Quay, so the location is generally good.
All in all, a good place to stay, decent rooms and good staff, certainly good value for money and pretty well located for some of Sydney’s highlights.
