Having stayed in a plethora of ryokan over many years in Japan, this is one of the best experiences I've had so far. Wonderful staff, excellent food and character galore. I'll be going back.

Easily one of the best hotels I've every stayed at. The staff is courteous, helpful, and very professional. Despite its age, the hotel does not feel old or worn out - I was pleasantly surprised by how well maintained, clean, and neat everything was. The rooms were generously spacious, offered an amazing view of Mt. Fuji in the early morning, and a wonderful view of the bay at night. This place was amazing from the moment we arrived. Taking your shoes off upon arrival is a must (as it is in most Japanese Places). Our bags were carried up to our room and we were served green tea. We were told about the amenities and even walked down to the onsens available. We had a room with our own hot spring tub on the balcony which I recommend that you book. The views of the lush green trees and mountains made for a picturesque and relaxing backdrop.

Wonderful stay at Ryokan Kikuya. It's picturesque, with the stream running through it. Impeccable service, attentive yet discreet. Situated at the heart of Shuzenji Onsen town, one can go on short or long walks with interesting sites to visit.

Very clean room and attentive staff. We enjoyed a half board each day and were met with an exquisite multitude of Japanese traditional foods and delicacies. The surrounding town is quiet, and uber/taxi is available for travel. This is an amazing experience to immerse yourself in Japanese culture, reset, and unwind. Our favorite part would have to be the onsen.

Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.

Excellent service. Not only was the stay memorable for us but the hotel staff exceeded expectations. When Uber blew it on a timed taxi hailing, they shuttled us up to the station to make our train - off schedule. Great service!
The buffet is also awesome and rooms are so sweet! Views are excellent and the location is at the heart of the beachfront. Pretty great spot to experience Atami.

Very approachable for a more cultural, traditional experience. Was very easy for an American foreigner like myself to have a truly authentic experience. Staff is incredibly hospitable, helpful, patient, and capable. My first ryokan experience that I have Yusakaso to thank. Quality onsens, extraordinarily clean.

This was such a beautiful hotel. We stayed at some very nice ones during our trip to Japan and this was the most amazing of them all with gorgeous views of Mt Fuji and Lake Ashi. It’s hard to beat sitting in your private onsen with water from a natural hot spring while gazing at Mt Fuji. The room is equipped with every amenity making for a comfortable stay, including very comfy pjs. The fridge is stocked with some drinks and alcohol, at no cost. Actual property and room were amazing. It was very large for Japan and everything was new. It felt like a nice modern apartment but had a sauna, onsen, and footbath! Onsen was very nice and while not outside, you could open the large window for some cool air. The room really was far beyond my expectations. Now the location was okay - it was next to a busy/noisy street and while near some hills, plenty of power lines before you could see it. It was a short walk to the station, but there was...

Beautiful property - absolutely breathtaking from the moment you arrive. The staff were super nice and helpful. David who works at the tea bar is also lovely. Amenities are great here and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We never wanted to leave. We got the forest room and it was so nice to wake up to. The public bath was also super clean and nice. Our skin felt great afterwards. Would highly recommend the dinner and breakfast there also. It was a big meal but so delicious.

My only complaint is that I didn't stay there longer. The area and hotel are so calm and peaceful, and the beach views are unbelievable. Definitely recommend for those hoping to get off the beaten path. I'd recommend two nights so you get really get a chance to relax and take advantage of the baths, pool, and beach.
