The parking is excellent, convenient and very close to the hotel. I felt safe knowing that I could see my car from my room window. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I was greeted with great customer service by the staff. I loved how clean everything was. Definitely will be staying here again when I come to Thibodaux. I don’t want to stay anywhere else.

This property is amazing with luxury detail to everything. The decor is French colonial and the gardens are recreations of Versailles. The beds are exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom modern with a large shower. No detail has been overlooked. The thing I enjoyed most was the River Road Museum which comprehensively covers the history of the area. I was amazed to see the death mask of Napoleon there. If anything was lacking it was the buffet breakfast but all buffets to me are in enjoyable....

My family of 4 stayed here for a couple of nights when the pipes at our house busted. The room was spacious, with a separate ‘living’ area. It was clean, which is the most important thing to me when searching for a hotel. Couldn’t beat the price either.

We picked the Hampton Inn Gonzales for our trip to the old Louisiana plantations. We had a great stay, and loved the free hot breakfast every morning. It is conveniently located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans! Rooms are nice and clean and roomy.

The front desk clerk, Precious, was FANTASTIC! Not only were we staying here in the process of an 1800 mile move but, my 85 year old father had passed earlier that very day. Precious was kind, compassionate, & amazingly efficient! She is an asset to your establishment! The rooms were clean, comfortable & very well equipped. But, you can get that at a lot of hotels. What makes this chain special, is the staff, like Precious, who stand above the rest!

The best area to stay in St. James is along the River Road, particularly near the major plantations, as this is where the primary attractions and most of the limited accommodation options are located.
The River Road area stretches along the Mississippi River, connecting several historic sugar cane plantations. This scenic route offers direct access to well-preserved antebellum homes like Oak Alley Plantation and Laura Plantation, which are key points of interest. It's a rural setting, characterized by large estates and agricultural landscapes, providing a quiet and historically rich backdrop.
Couples looking for a romantic and historically significant getaway will find the River Road appealing. Many plantations offer unique bed and breakfast experiences in their historic cottages or renovated buildings, allowing for an intimate stay surrounded by history and natural beauty.
