The best area to stay in St Minver is Rock, a village located directly on the Camel Estuary.

Rock is known for its beautiful waterfront and as a hub for watersports. It offers stunning views across the estuary to Padstow and features a variety of high-quality restaurants and independent shops along its main road, Rock Road. The ferry to Padstow departs regularly from the quay, making it easy to explore both sides of the estuary.

Families often find Rock to be an excellent base. The calm waters of the estuary are ideal for activities like paddleboarding, sailing, and swimming, making it a great spot for children to enjoy the water. There are also several beaches within a short drive, such as Daymer Bay and Polzeath, which are popular for surfing lessons and building sandcastles.

Couples looking for a relaxing and upscale retreat will also appreciate Rock. The area has several sophisticated dining options, many with estuary views, and properties often feature amenities like private balconies or access to high-end fitness equipment.

The best time to go to St Minver is during the late spring, summer, and early autumn months, specifically from May to October, when the weather is most pleasant for enjoying the Cornish coast.

During these months, you'll experience milder temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like exploring the coastal paths or visiting nearby beaches such as Polzeath and Rock. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive sightseeing and relaxation.

Families often find the summer months (July and August) particularly appealing due to school holidays and a wider range of family-friendly activities being fully operational. The ocean temperatures are also at their warmest, making water sports more comfortable.

Couples looking for a quieter, more romantic experience might prefer May, June, September, or October.
