The hotel presents itself as 4 star, but it's close to 2-2.5 stars. Smoked through, the smoke sips into the rooms from the lobby and the rooms smell. The Internet connection works intermittently, most of the nights being unavailalbe and with no IT support availalbe after normal business hours (if it's out on Friday night, wait until Monday, maybe). Breakfast is very simple with not much of a choice. A funny "soviet" thing is that some kind of a hotel manager eats breakfast in the same restaurant, typically surrounded by hotel femail personnel, and food is separately prepared for him, not what guests have to eat. Avoid unless no other choices available.

OK if the location is important for you

Posted Sep 5, 2008 on Hotels
The hotel is clean, the rooms are simple but noisy and the smoke from the hallways gets into the rooms, although they take care of the smoke smell in the rooms (there are no non-smoking rooms). The restaurant is a disaster, and the restaurant service is non-existent.

Do not stay on tourism

Posted Apr 9, 2008
Hotel website not well located for tourism, better off staying at Historic center where sites are located. Staff is very nice, but very young and inexperienced. They could not help with basic things like booking ballet tickets and turning off firewall on the computer, which prevented access to webmail. Also disappointed that hotel guests have to pay to use sauna and facility.

Excellent St. Petersburg Business Hotel

Posted Jul 18, 2007
Although a little difficult to find at first, it's well worth the small walk from the entrance. Overall an excellent small business hotel. All amenities, including free Wi-Fi, which is very rare in Russia. Friendly staff. Breakfast could be a little more complete and the availability of CNN or BBC would be am improvement. Just remember that the hotel entrance is actually 50 meters from the entrance on Professor Popov street, inside the couryard.
