The newly elected mayor of Tbilisi vowed to have this structure removed as soon as possible. He claimed that the structure didn't fit in at all with the decrepit Soviet-era structures in the area. After a considerable bit of protest on social media, plans to remove this structure look to have been delayed - though I wouldn't be surprised if this structure is removed in the middle of the night at some future point.
