Our host Frank was excellent. We enjoyed the apartment. Location was awesome. Easy to get to Trader Joes or Whole Foods. We stayed a week and saw many of the sites. Nice neighborhood. The Metro train was easy to get around DC. We would stay here again if we came back.

A great place to stay in DC!

Our family of four (my spouse and our two daughters, ages 13 and 9) stayed in Frank's basement apartment in June 2025 and we had an absolutely delightful time. Check in was very easy, the apartment was very well-stocked (thankfully, he even had umbrellas! We had forgotten to bring ours and they definitely came in handy!), and the location was excellent! We found it very easy to get around from where we were whether by walking, biking (there are so many great bike lanes!), or metro. There was a Trader Joe's just a few blocks away along with a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We felt very safe in this neighborhood and took frequent evening strolls around. I would highly recommend this space to friends visiting the city!

Great location

This listing was great for us as it was close to so many restaurants. Walking distance to the Metro and bus stops. We left our car parked in the same spot all week as we walked or used the easily accessible public transit. The home itself was very organized and detailed instructions left by the host with every question we could have had.

Quite nights in the city

Favorite things - the host's quick response to inquiries, location to bus line and restaurants, and free parking. Nice size for a couple and a comfortable bed, too.It is a basement apartment with little natural light and a little damp. It was clean, but would benefit from a deeper clean.I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Cozy & Convenient!

Loved staying at this property! An under 10 minute walk to the Green Line station and many restaurants. Parking was easy to find and the owner was very helpful in getting the permit and the check-in / check-out process. 10/10 would definitely recommend staying here.

Perfect for our family of 4!

Frank’s basement house was perfect for our family of 4. The kids slept on the pullout couch and we were also able to cook meals at night. The location was perfect to take a quick uber to all the sites in DC. Frank was also great at communicating. Would definitely recommend!

Family Visit

I found this listing which worked out as a great location within a couple of blocks of our family. It was an easy walk and we felt safe walking after dark. Communication with Frank was great. We did not have a rental car so parking was not an issue. We slept very well using both the bed and sofa bed. The updated bathroom was very nice. We also enjoyed looking through some of the books about the history of DC and used the TV in the living area. We only used the kitchen for quick breakfast and evening snacks, but it looked like it was equipped to make a meal if you chose to. My Great Niece enjoyed seeing the blown up lighted turkey on the roof and all the pumpkins on the steps. We look forward to our next family visit and staying at Frank's English Basement!

Genuinely perfect!

Our stay with Frank was perfect! Frank was extremely communicative and helpful. Our stay was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was really walkable and easy to get to public transportation. The kitchen was pretty well outfitted and you’re just a short walk to Trader Joe’s and some wonderful restaurants! We had a perfect stay and I will definitely be staying with Frank again if we make our way back to DC.

'24 vacation with my minis

Frank's basement apartment was a good choice for my son and I. Good location in residential area, very close to good restaurants, bars, cafes. Apartment was clean and comfortable. It was a good launching pad to explore DC for the first time. Frank was responsive and to any inquiries.

Perfect Apartment in DC

The apartment was a perfect size for a family of four to spend a week in DC. Close to restaurants and grocery shopping with a quick Uber to the all sights. If you prefer to walk, it’s about a 20 minute walk to the White House. The bed was comfortable and the kids had no issues with the pull out couch and air mattress. Lots of extra pillows and blankets to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen was also great, allowing us to cook breakfast and dinner with no problem. Frank was very friendly and helpful during our visit. I would not hesitate to stay again. A charming home away from home.

Great Location with Responsive Host

Property is located within one block of area with plenty of activity and restaurants and is about 15 minute walk from Dupont Circle Metro stop. Our host, Frank, is extremely quick to respond to any questions and is very accommodating. Frank left detailed instructions and information about his basement apartment. Bathroom is new and very clean. Definitely recommend this place for a short stay where location for an affordable place is your priority.

Great location Great host!

Frank and Ty could not have been more accommodating! The apartment is in a great area with shops snd restaurants nearby. It was a quick Uber ride to all of the sights. We will definitely stay here again if we return to DC.
