“This was an unexpected gem. The main building was built as a TB sanitarium in 1812 and has been beautifully updated with period charm. Sitting on the property is a mid-century motel also updated with period correct touches. It did not go unnoticed that whomever decorated paid close attention to detail.
We were greeted by a lovely gentleman, Jack, a border collie, who walked us to the check in door. We were then greeted by a friendly person who told us about the history of the place,……
“This is a gem amongst all motels and even hotels in the Mackinaw/St. Ignace area. Completely renovated, just like the pictures show it. And dog-friendly! Yes, you can hear occasional noise from adjacent rooms but that’s no difference when staying in a hotel. I will return to this motel anytime if I need an overnight stay in the area.”
“If you are looking for 50's cabin nastalgia, this is the place to go. Reminded me of the cabins we stayed in during my childhood. Room was clean, however no place to hang clothes. It was fine for a weekend stay.”
“The 3 rooms we had were clean and the beds very comfortable. We stayed on the bottom floor and had a very nice porch that we could sit on. I really enjoyed having not only a view of the lake but being on the lake itself. The continental breakfast was decent. My only complaint was that there was a lot of people having breakfast at the same time so the line for pancakes took a while. The free shuttle to Sheplers Ferry was greatly appreciated.
