Only 1 bed was made up and room was clean but very dated, and the property and grounds have seen better days and are overall quite scruffy. No TV in room but was told I could watch TV downstairs if I wanted to. The shower didn't work properly - either scalding hot or dribbled out cold water. Sink took ages to drain, noisy radiator. “Great property, clean, excellent master bedroom, well equiped, brilliant location and in a peaceful spot, however the hot tub stopped working / went to standby mode and couldnt be used so felt like the one main reason we booked this property and couldnt use it. The stairs are very steep and were difficult to go up and down. Ideal for kielder and surrounding areas. ”

“Dianne went out of her way to be helpful at all steps of our stay. Great parking facilities, great shower, comfy bed. Everything needed was provided and well thought through. We were able to arrange to collect the keys early as we were due at a wedding and Dianne went out of her way to help us arrange a taxi booking to and from the venue nearby. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.”

“A unique Scottish hotel that is in the process of being renovated. Food was good and staff friendly, though reception appeared to be unstaffed. My room was one of the older ones so the renovation will be a big benefit but overall the hotel was great value and much better than an anonymous generic chain hotel.”

“Quirky place to stay! Lovely big room for our family of four, in peaceful surroundings next to a ruined castle and 10 minutes from Hadrians Wall! Friendly staff and nice home cooked food for dinner and breakfast!”

“Pub was dated, and our room had a shower/toilet in a pod, so read the small print when booking. The pod was extremely small with little room to manoeuvre and the extractor fan did not work. Also music could be heard in our room from downstairs. The positive is the shower was warm, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast good. Also the local clientele were warm, friendly and welcoming”

“Hotel is very pet-friendly and hence the reason for our visit. We stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage which was ideal for us and our dog. The only criticism is the food at Spike's Bar (at the golf club) was a little bit disappointing.”
