Tierra Verde features excellent fishing spots and marinas, with numerous restaurants serving the catch of the day. Paddle kayaks to explore renowned beaches and stroll along nature trails for bird-watching. At the end of each day, enjoy dinner and drinks with water views as the sun sets over boats bobbing in the marina.
The southernmost tip of Tierra Verde offers access to Fort De Soto Park, made up of five islands. The park’s spectacular North Beach and East Beach provide picturesque backdrops for swimming. North Beach features a huge tidal pool that's ideal for floating and splashing with the kids. If you’re traveling with pets, bring your furry friends to the designated dog beach.
Visit Historic Fort De Soto at the center of the park. Climb to the top of Battery Laidley to see cannons and panoramic views across the water, then explore the firing galleys and artillery holds. You’ll learn about the history of the fort at the Quartermaster Museum. A fun way to get around is by bike. Paved walking trails crossing the park are also suitable for strollers and rollerblades.
Out on the water, spot manatees, turtles and seabirds while kayaking around the tidal waters. Calm water and paddling trails ensure it’s an easy and safe adventure for all levels of experience. If you prefer fishing, join the locals at the fishing pier near the dog beach, along with friendly resident pelicans.
Catch the ferry from the fishing pier for a 30-minute trip to Egmont Key State Park. The wildlife refuge is circled with crystal-clear water that’s perfect for snorkeling. As you explore the island, watch for tortoises and nesting seabirds. Along the way, visit the ruins of the military garrison Fort Dade and a working lighthouse that’s about 170 years old.
Tierre Verde is just a 15-minute drive from St. Pete Beach and from downtown St. Petersburg. Fly to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport for the 25-minute drive to this coastal paradise.
