We have stayed at other RIU properties in the past. This one was a disappointment. No room service, no pool drink service, no TV for 3 days, and no phone service the entire time. First night, there was a fight outside our room. We couldn’t call security due to having no phone service. Had to get our friends next door to call. As for entertainment, there is no diversity. Reviews talked about diversity of music, including 70’s and 80’s music. The only 70’s and 80’s music we heard was during transport from airport to resort and when we went on catamaran excursion … We got to pick the music. What was telling was as we were returning to the resort, ‘Sweet Caroline” was blasting and everyone on the beach was joining in. I would tell the staff and entertainment team, “READ THE ROOM!” After hearing the same music for several days, I approached the DJ about playing some 70’s and 80’s music like mentioned in some of other reviews. His response, “Not today!” Generally speaking, the staff was nice. We ate every morning and night at the buffet. Not disappointing! And those waitresses and waiters work extremely hard! Likely will not stay at another RIU property unless one we’ve stay at before this time.RIU is a recognized brand name. Don’t lose it!
