Pros: Animation team is awesome. The smile in my 6 year old daughter when she was walking with one of the girls from the kids club was priceless.
Cons: Buffet options are good, very good in quality actually, but I guess they can improve the variety of it. other than that, food is great.
Location: A lot of things to do nearby, but we didn´t, did not need it.

Decent enough, nothing special.Posted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: Overall, I again would recommend this hotel. If you aware it is 3 star and not 4. The staff seems to warm up to you the longer you are there.
Location: National Geographic snorkel with the Turtles and Cenote trip was amazing to experience. If American-ask for Rianna as your guide.
Front check in staff was rude. Why ask for special requests if they don't bother to check before assigning room? Gift store clerk rude, informed me no drinks allowed-understandable. My husband the gentleman he is grabbed by glass and took it out of store for me so I could continue to browse. The clerk approached me again, pointed and said "door". Wow, can't even believe that happened. (Nancy was fantastic in gift store). Fernando at pool bar was fun, always nice and smiling. Be advised on speciality restaurants, review their policy carefully if you do not want to eat the buffet everyday. Buffet food average, lots of variety. If you are a light sleeper, ask for building away from the beach. They have shows every night until 11pm which are loud. We did go to one show and it was very well done. Snack bar has food but nothing special.

Check-in process needs much improvement -Posted Nov 28, 2013
We emailed the hotel 2 weeks in advance, so we and two other couples could get rooms in the same building. They responded that we had reservations, but would not commit to having the three couples being in the same building. Upon arrival at about 1 p.m., we also asked to have all 3 couples be in the same building. The desk clerks said that checkin was not until 3 p.m. and t hey could not tell us anything until then about room assignments. We then asked if we could make speciality restaurant reservations and the desk clerk said yes, but we would have to go to another desk. Upon arrival, the restaurant desk said they could not give us any reservations until we got room assignments. what a fiasco and unnecessary confusion to checkin and make reservations for the speciality restaurants. We have stayed at about 15 other all inclusive resorts over the years and this is by far the most unfriendly to checkin. We eventually got all 3 couples in the same building and the rest of our 7 days at the resort was great. The buffet food was o.k. and the speciality restaurants were great. We especially liked the trapeez, the pool and the beech. All the other staff (other then checkin) and the shows were excellent. Some of the best dancers we have seen in any of the shows elsewhere. .

Hotel close to beachPosted Nov 27, 2013
Initially lost our reservation. Took a long time to get in our room. No hot water in our room. They had to come "instruct" is on how to use the shower because it is "difficult." Of course it's difficult - you have to have the sink running just right in order to get hot water in the shower.

Loved it LOVED IT Loved it!Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: +beach +staff +drinks +shows
Cons: -mattresses-so hard -switch up the buffet-large variety and good tasting, but still the same food everyday -allow ONE reservation DAILY for dinner
Location: Post card perfect location. Beautiful shopping just outside the gates Felt IMMENSELY SAFE (security on the beach even!)
The staff at Viva deserves a standing ovation. My best friend and I went to celebrate our 40th birthday, and had an unforgettable time at Viva. The staff members were friendly and genuine and always made us laugh. The shows at night were top notch. The bartenders are great. The pool was wonderful. The beach was the best of 3 previous trips I've taken to Riviera Maya and have stayed elsewhere. White powdery sand-not a single rock..anywhere. Nice beach chairs, and plenty of them. Nice towels. The food in the Mexican restaurant was phenomenal. Buffet's were average. The rooms were gorgeous and housekeeping was prompt and meticulous. The grounds were equally as clean and groomed. I would return to Viva in a Mexican minute!!! Matresses were VERY uncomfortable. This is my ONLY negative. We were in an ocean front premium suite too, so I was bummed about the beds being so hard. The beach, the staff and the fun and easy going atmosphere will bring me back for sure.

Everything you want to know!Posted Nov 8, 2013
Pros: Lots of things!! The Beach, Drinks, Food. Especially the staff!!
Cons: Bed's and A/C. But A/C not a big deal maybe during the months of Oct. to March since it's colder. I wouldn't go during here during the summer though.
Location: Downtown is 5 min. Cozumel is 45 min. ferry ride. Went parasailing for $75 for two people because we hooked the guy up with a couple of beers.
The Pro's: I loved this hotel! Staff is beyond great. We had just went on Allure of the Seas Royal Caribbean Cruise and the service at this hotel was way better! Everyone is courteous. It is right on the beach and you only need to walk from your room to the back pool and your there. Drinks are weak, but I always just asked the bartenders to make them a little stronger. The drink menu is great. You got to try the rainbow shots! Food is good and lots of variety. Show's are great and cast is very, very energetic. Real close to downtown playa del Carmen. They had free catamaran surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, and even scuba diving! The beach is so amazing!! Always plenty of umbrellas and chairs. Swim up bar is awesome. Resort is very clean and taken care of. A/C is controllable in the room. Taxi into town is 90 pesos or $7.50. The taxi man will tell you 90 pesos or $9.00, but don't believe him, just tell him 90 pesos is $7.50 and he wont argue. Taxi's are there in 5 min. The Cons: Beds are a little hard. Not too bad for the first few nights, but after the 4th night my back was a little sore. But for the price it wasn't such a big deal. Also they're are no places with enclosed A/C including the dinning area. We went in October so it wasn't a big deal and wasn't real, real hot, just a little warm. We always sat under a celling fan which made it ok. They have a specialty restaurant that does have A/C, but you must make a reservation. For the price, take it, you wont regret it!

Wonderful resort and staff!Posted Nov 8, 2013
Pros: The grounds, location and service!
Cons: There were some minor and necessary upgrades needed to the gym equipment.
Location: Near by is the Plaza for close shopping and 5th Ave. is an easy walk which also allows for collectivo usage to sight see on your own!
The resort is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The rooms are very nice but minimal (but who goes to the beach to stay in their room). The food is great and many options (especially for vegetarians and those who are health conscious). The entertainment is wonderful and offers many options to keep any one on their toes. The location is the best of all since the main entertaining area is less than 50 feet from the beach and for night time relaxation it offers the 24 hour bar within feet of sand and surf!

Bad smell, moldy smell stays in you clothes.Posted Nov 7, 2013
Rooms weren't well insulated, you can hear all the noise from outside and other rooms. Couldn't sleep much. There's a foul smell in the room that stays in your clothes. (Moldy, musky smell) the food wasn't that good. The beach and scenes all around are very good.

Cons: The room, while nice and had a great AC unit, had an overall musty smell that infiltrated our clothing which wasn't very pleasing. Overall it was fine
