Beautiful swimable beach and grounds.Posted Dec 18, 2014
Overall it was a good vacation.Great sport & entertainment crew.Fresh food ..would be nice to have a whole fruit added to the menu. Everything was cut. Negative: people are smocking everywhere, even in places they not supposed to..very unpleasant.; bring your own towels if you want to be warm and dry after swimming in afternoon. 1 towel per day. .period..

the beachPosted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: trip advisor
Cons: nothing to think off
Location: a lot of activities in the hotel resort and also by close by locations (xplor, xel-ha, xcarlet, Coba, ...)
the hotel is at the great location, nice and clean, the staff is pleasant. food is tasteful, there are 4 a la cartes in this hotel and 3 a la cartes in the near by Azteca. there is absolutely nothing i should suggest for an improvement with this hotel and the resort. we stayed for 2 wks and everything was alright!!! no problem to return in the future.

Mexico trip 2014Posted Dec 10, 2014
The hotel was very clean & staff very pleasant. Nice distance to 5th ave. The food was quite plain & you got served bacon. We always play sports in the pools but this was not allowed here. The rooms were fine except the toilets didn't flush properly.

Bring Some $$ or Keep Your BottlePosted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: The resort was pretty clean and well kept.
Cons: Of all the places I've stayed in the area, the staff doesn't really speak to guests. Usually I'm inundated with "hello" or "hola" or "buenos dias."
Location: The food was decent...and that's saying a lot. I would stick to 5th Ave and heading over to Cozumel.
My biggest gripe is that the resort does not provide bottled water. You are given a complimentary bottle upon check-in, but that's it. This is the first time I've come across this - it's not enough to brush your teeth and rinse your mouth for a week!

Bad food and drinks at Viva Wyndham Maya ResortPosted Dec 8, 2014
The Viva Wyndham Maya Resort is an All Inclusive Resort but upon arrival to your room you will find that the room mini bar is totaly emty and that there is only included one bottle of 0.5 l. of water in your hotel room, thats all. The Resort bars serve drinks made of the cheapest of spirits and mix them with soda which seem to contain sugar free aspartan. No real juices of any kinds are offered. The food at the main restaurant was of very low quality. The bacon for your breakfast was finished at about 09:00 every morning. This resort is not worth the money they will charge you, go elsewhere.

Great ValuePosted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: Location and Value.
Cons: We had a problem with the hotel being overbooked and having to stay at a sister property for a night. It was kind of disruptive and not handled well.
Staff really works hard to make your stay pleasant. Food is pretty basic, no room service, only one choice of beer (two x), but the lower price makes up for it. If you are looking for the five star experience, this isn't it. It is more the really nice, value experience. Great cappuccinos and mojitos.

Our trip of a lifetime!Posted Dec 2, 2014
Cons: I can't imagine it any better
Location: Ruins a short distance from hotel, 5th street, ferry to Cozemel, Tulum.
We had a glorious week at Viva Wyndham Maya! The hotel staff was wonderful. Every day we returned to our room to a new and even more cute towel animal on the bed. Our room was expertly cleaned every day and we felt very secure with leaving items out as nothing was ever moved or bothered in any way. The grounds are the most beautiful I have ever seen. So well kept and manicured. A short bike ride into town was a great way to spend some time for shopping or just looking around. The food was very good; yes even the buffet. We never felt like we missed out on anything and will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who may be going to Playa del Carmen.

Great if you plan to spend your days on the beach.Posted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: Great Staff, good drinks, clean rooms, family friendly, very secure, beautiful landscaping and beach. Great specialty restaurants.
Cons: Terrible snack bar. Just awful. The buffet is also not very good. Come thirsty not hungry.
Location: The location is a about 30 minutes walk to go into Playa Del Carmen, to 5th avenue where the bars/shops/restaurants are or a 7 peso cab ride.
Being from the East Coast of the US, we weren't sure what to expect from the Viva Wyndham Maya. Here are some pros and cons to consider. Pros: The staff couldn't be friendlier or more accommodating. From Javier at the concierge desk, to Jose at the bar, the staff goes out of the way, to make it a wonderful experience. The drinks are good, from a morning espresso to margaritas. The beach is clean and beautiful. There is a wide array of beach activities, from canoes and boats you can borrow, to darts, and the list goes on. The one reservation only dinner we had, was excellent, Don Julios. Very good 4 course meal, special tequila and margaritas were amazing. Cons: The food. The only thing that would prevent me from recommending this over other resorts in the area is the food. The buffet, is mediocre on the best days, and pretty rough on the worst. We thought, we could pad the not so great meals with the "Snack Bar" but 2 things prevent that. 1. It is only open, when the buffet is not. 2. It's TERRIBLE. I didn't think it was possible to make a hot dog I wouldn't eat... but they did it. 90 of the time, the snack bar, is soggy pizza, and hot dogs on a roller belt. in the middle of the day, at least there are chips and nacho cheese... The only other note I would make, is that while during the day, there is tons of entertainment, at night, there is a good show, at 9:30pm, and then nothing else to do. It is very family friendly, they seem to have plenty of activites for children.

Clean and comfortable after a few issues handled.Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Very clean. Staff friendly and accommodating. Food good.
Cons: We were told we could only go to the restaurants 2 nights...there were 4 we would have liked to have gone to. The buffet gets repetitious.
Location: In a secure area known as Playacar. Close to Playa Del Carmen. A shopping area across street ( very touristy!!!)
Just got back from Viva Maya. Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Unfortunately our room was not ready when they sent us to room which was on the 3rd floor by the Quiet pool. So we wait 45 min on the balcony while it was cleaned. The toilet didn't flush, there were no washcloths. These issues were resolved quickly. Room was clean and comfortable. pool area very nice, they have an adults only pool/bar that is great! Beach area very nice, able to walk a good ways either direction. Close to Playa Del Carmen.
