Great old silk mill that has been converted into a hotel. It's a great re-use of the space. The rooms are very nice, and the staff were very friendly.

Wonderful place to stay. The views of the bay, moon, and fog is incredible.

Our stay at Surf Lodge was amazing! Kelly was such a fantastic host. The room was beautifully put together and very clean. The design of the entire property was very thoughtful and such a peaceful getaway.

Clean quiet comfortable room. No staff, coded entry to lobby and room. Good beds. Nice central location. Beaches not far away.

We thought this was such a value! The beds are comfortable. The shower is hot, and the complementary breakfast was generous. After reading the reviews, we brought earplugs for sleeping and had no problem with the street noises. Highly recommend doing that! The staff is very friendly and hard-working.

San Anselmo is a wonderful place to visit with beautiful surroundings, shops and restaurants. It’s hard to believe huge cities are just over the small mountain. The Inn is the only place to stay right in town. The included breakfast was wonderful with fresh sweet strawberries every morning, and pastries. Check in was a breeze. Last minute reservation was quick and easy

So the Inn and receptionists, waitstaff fine dining restaurant were great. Food was phenomenal too. But the majority of the staff at the restaurant across the street were cold, unfriendly and a bunch of prudes. I politely asked one of the waiters if i could sit at the bar and he said “Well can you? Like physically. Go see the hostess she needs to do a headcount.” I go see the hostess and she was like hmm 1 person not sure let me see. Made a face and spoke to her colleague. Close to shopping and restaurants. Staff was very accommodating as we arrived a couple hours before check in and they were able to get us a room rather quickly. We were okay if they were not able to but I appreciate they were able to make the effort.

For the price and fact that it's a motel, the friendliness and service was great. Breakfast is included and there were lots of good quality options to choose from. My only complaint is there wasn't a blanket in the room in addition to the sheet and bed cover.

This is an older hotel - kinda feels like visiting my grandma. That said, the rooms are spacious, the folks are super friendly. If you need 5-star, go elsewhere. If you want friendly and affordable with good amenities, stay here. I stay here every time I travel to a Bay Area race.

Room price was so high and the room was too basic. Staff was super friendly and helpful, especially Kimberly who checked me in. Room cleanliness especially balcony was just average. Mattress needs to be replaced, not comfortable at all.

Very clean, quiet. Lush bed & pillows. Nice view of the waterfront from the 2nd floor. Excellent full complimentary breakfast; lots of delicious options from fruit, oatmeal to eggs, bacon & sausage. Staff were wonderful. Very helpful by providing dining/sightseeing information & directions.

This place always amazes me how the staff can be so courteous and never miss a beat. Parking is easy and walking distance from downtown San Rafael and the Marin County Transit Center. I enjoy that once I park my car I can walk wherever I want to go. And the hotel is located in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood.

I was in room 12. Loved the deck and the view of the harbour. The town rolls up the sidewalks at 8, so very quiet at nite. Could hear the roar of the surf and sea lions barking at night. Friendly staff, good mattress, clean room. I will definately stay again. Only thing I would change is to have a mini fridge in the room.
