Terrible breakfast service, waited 50 minutes for our order, couldn't wait any longer had a train to catch. When complained at reception we were told we couldn't get a refund because we'd paid when we booked the room. Although we were told that we could have the money for our breakfast taken off our drinks bill. Apart from that all was good especially the bar tender who worked his socks off on his own, the poor fella really needed some help.

Wonderful hotel with a great location. Characterful property with lovely rooms and good facilities. Staff very helpful and friendly. A slightly delayed check in where more staff were needed. Overall a great place and we’ll definitely stay again

Well positioned hotel and staff friendly and helpful. It was clean and the bed very comfortable. Standard room was small and lacked a comfortable chair but otherwise had all we needed. Would be happy to stay there again.

I have stayed at the Francis Hotel several times and loved it, but would think twice about staying again. The reception staff as usual were excellent. However, the hotel is badly let down by the new ‘Moroccan style’ restaurant. Previously breakfast was what you would expect from a hotel of this standard, a buffet of good quality food and a nice selection of hot food served at your table. Food and service was always excellent. Now you are allocated a £20 allowance for food, to purchase items from a very limited menu. Due to Covid restrictions we did not expect a buffet, and were happy to pre book a time for breakfast, allowing only 10 tables at a time in the restaurant. Service was diabolical, after waiting 30 mins I had to ask the waitress to take our order. When the drinks arrived my daughters water was missing, and did not appear until over 30 minutes later when the food arrived. We also ordered some pastries from the restaurant manageress, who clearly was not at all interested in her job. She said there would be a 10 minute wait for these, but after waiting much longer, we left, with no apology from her. We went to register our dissatisfaction at reception, where several other people were complaining about the breakfast. We spoke to a lovely receptionist Paige, who gave us a refund. The breakfast was not the usual standard, eggs almost cold, and very watery coffee. Such a shame as this was such a lovely hotel and we always looked forward to staying there.
