Five stars!

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Location: Central to Mt Washington and Franconia Notch, and just off Rt 93 -- very convenient.
The inn is located in an idyllic spot just north of Franconia Notch, in a network of very pleasant trails. Inside, it keeps that nice balance between elegant and casual. Innkeepers are terrific, and the food is first-rate. Worth every penny.

Military breakfast

Posted Jul 28, 2016
They start breakfast at 8:30am sharp but they don't start cook food unless every guest who stay the hotel get ready to sit. 8:30am breakfast is late too.

I appreciate your honesty regarding the breakfast time. It is typical of Inns to serve breakfast at a set time. We do however, begin serving as each table is seated. I am truly sorry the 8:30 am time did not work for you. Had we known in advance, we may have been able to accommodate you with an offering a an earlier time.

Very nice Country Inn

Posted Jul 26, 2016
Pros: The location and the grounds, designed by Olmsted Brothers some 90 years ago, are absolutely fabulous, and very well maintained..
My wife and I stayed in the "Franconia" Room, which is very comfortable with an entrance hallway, private balcony and a double Jacuzzi tub. Very nicely decorated. The breakfast, which is included in the room charge, and the dinners were outstanding. The innkeepers Cindy and Tom do a good job at creating a nice atmosphere in the inn, as well as outdoors. The inn has only 11 rooms and is, therefore, very cozy. On the inside it is superbly decorated, having kept the original late 1920s flavor.

What a great find.

Posted Feb 23, 2016
I had never been to this area of NH. This was close enough to the White Mtn area activities, the drive was beautiful, even going during the winter time. We'll be back for the fall foliage which has got to be even better. The cost of the room and dining was well worth it. Great food and staff, aside from the beauty of the property. Hard to knock anything hey offered.

YOUNG COUPLES, DO NOT COME HERE

Posted Feb 1, 2016
This is such a beautiful and historic inn, it's a shame the staff is so discriminatory. My fiancé and I are in our early 20s and the second we walked into the inn we had issues. First off, the staff had not checked their email from the booking site and interrogated us on whether or not we had actually booked to stay there. Later on, we went down to the restaurant excited to spoil ourselves on an expensive meal and a nice bottle of wine. We were told we could only sit in the bar which was a small room secluded from the other guests in the dining room (there were 2 or 3 tables open in the dining room of less than 10 tables). We sat there for about 15 minutes without even being looked at. Meanwhile an older couple walked in and the staff practically kissed their feet. The couple was hurriedly offered drinks, bread, and a table in the dining room before we had even been greeted by our server. After that, one of the inn keepers came up to us saying "we are just not going to be able to accommodate you tonight, I can recommend somewhere else for you to go, but it is too busy tonight for us to accommodate you." She then recommended another place for us to eat that was equally discriminatory. As we ate our dinner a table behind us joked that we would have to wash dishes out back to pay for our meal. After these experiences, I would never recommend that a young couple come to the Adair inn and restaurant or Bethleham New Hampshire.

Dear Grace, We are so sorry you were unhappy with your stay here at Adair. It is very rare that we have guests who are, as is evidenced by the very positive reviews we have received on Expedia. That being said, I remember when you arrived last Saturday night around 7:30 pm having booked last minute (at 5:00 pm) on Expedia. As innkeepers of a small establishment, we wear many hats and were in the middle of serving guests to a full dining room. We had not logged on to our reservation system in a few hours.and thus were unaware of the booking. We quickly checked our system, saw the reservation and promptly showed you to the room. When asked about dinner, I mentioned we were fully booked but would try and accommodate you in our library bar. You came into the bar moments later. .I was serving cocktails to guests who had made reservations and were waiting for their table...I subsequently took them into dining room to be seated. I then spoke with our chef and wait staff and we determined that it was not possible to handle another table for 30-40 minutes to ensure excellent food and service. You both decided, however, you did not wish to wait, even after I offered you soup or bread to hold you over until then. I offered to make reservations at another restaurant just down the road where we always refer guests. In closing, we truly tried our best. We apologize if our inability to accommodate your dinner reservation and slight mix up at check in was interpreted as being discriminatory to young people....

Idyllic Place

Posted Jan 6, 2016
Pros: Simply everything.
Cons: Not a thing.
Location: The White Mountains are so magnificent; you can be in Montreal, Stowe,VT or Portsmouth, NH in a few hours.
The Adair is as close-to-perfect as a B&B or inn could be. The home is large, gracious and charming, the guest rooms are simply beautiful, and the expansive property is a walker's or hiker's dream. Best of all, however, is the hospitality that is so warmly offered by Barry, the innkeeper, and his staff, and the Adair's incredible chef, Dirk. The breakfasts are exceptional, and we had a dinner that Dirk prepared that was simply incredible (if I were a New Englander I guess the appropriate accolade would be "awesome"). We once stayed at a B&B in Italy, in Cinque Terra, that was so exceptional that we believed --- given our fairly limited travels --- that it could never be matched. There are times when it's really nice to be wrong.

Anniversary Country Inn getaway

Posted Oct 22, 2015
Pros: The Innkeepers take great pride in their Inn and the service they provide. The game room in the basement. Cleanliness and commitment to being green.
Cons: Access to the kitchen was close to our ground floor suite, so it did get a little noisy at times.
Location: Inn is convenient to 93, but in a peaceful location away from the crowds. Allows access to The Mount Washington Valley and all it's attractions.
This is a lovely Inn, even though it is just off the 93 junction, it is very quiet and set on beautiful grounds, with a few walking trails. We initially booked the Cabot room because we wanted a cozy fireplace. Unfortunately, the fireplace did not work, so we we offered a free upgrade to the Crawford suite, which was gorgeous and very much appreciated. We reserved a table for dinner on Sunday evening in the small fire-placed dining room, which was busy. Our meals were of excellent quality and the service was attentive but not overbearing. We stayed for 3 nights, so we were also treated to the delicious multiple course breakfasts served in the dining room every morning. The breakfast was so filling, that we were able to make it through most of the day with just a small snack before dinner.

Quite Retreat in New Hampshire

Posted Oct 13, 2015
Pros: The staff and other guest were friendly. The Inn was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Extending breakfast. A range of time (instead of a set time) would have been a little more helpful for those who might like to sleep in a bit.
Location: Franconia National Forest, Flume Gorge, local shops and dining, and hour drive to Mt. Washington
The Adair Country Inn was a relaxing get away. My Husband and I enjoyed the Inn and the amenities. It was a quite place to reconnect with each other. It is close to hiking and National Forests and about an hour from Mt. Washington. The small town center is quaint with lovely shops and restaurants. The grounds of the Inn itself could be an entire day of nature walking. I absolutely recommend staying here to couples looking for a romantic getaway and those who enjoy the peace of nature.
