Paradise West Log Cabin, Private Wilderness Retreat, Glacier Views, Beach Access

Romantic cabin in Haines with sauna
Discounts on select Haines tours exclusively for our guests! This secluded log cabin is located at Mile 6 of Mud Bay Road, on Paradise Cove, overlooking the Chilkat Inlet, Rainbow Glacier and Davidson Glacier. The cabin and separate wood-burning log sauna were hand-built by a local artisan for an Alaska tourism pioneer. This was his favoured personal hideaway. Your visit here will not only afford you spectacular views from the spacious waterfront cabin and broad deck, but will also put you in touch with a slice of Alaska history. Family memorabilia from 30 years of this well-known patriarch’s life provide glimpses into his life, and the love and memories shared in this idyllic spot. Paradise West is an open-plan cabin with a partitioned master bedroom with king-size bed, plus an open loft with two twin beds plus two trundle beds. There is also a queen pull-out bed in the living are. While rustic and remote, the cabin does have city electricity, and indoor plumbing: a shower, toilet and sink, all with non-potable water. We provide 15 gallons of drinking water for your arrival. The jugs may be refilled at the local spring. The kitchen has a refrigerator-freezer, electric range/oven, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, blender. The kitchen is completely stocked with dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans and all you need for meal preparation. There is even a barbecue on the deck. An oil heater will keep you warm if needed. Relish the peace and solitude of your private wilderness retreat. Climb down the hand-hewn steps and trail to the beach below the cabin to enjoy a waterfront bonfire or beach combing. Enjoy the many attractions and activities Haines offers: drive a short way to the Chilkat State Park; go fishing, hiking, bird-watching; or comb the local art galleries for a special piece to take home. This is truly a unique place, steeped in the history, beauty and wilderness for which Alaska is famous. Maximum occupancy 6 persons. Price is for 4 adults. Extra guests $20/person/night
Guest accommodations at this cabin offer coffee/tea makers and hair dryers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include showers.
Recreational amenities at the cabin include a sauna.

Great view, great location, great cabin!

Easy to locate - very good directions. Easy to get into cabin, even when dark out. Everything in cabin is as stated. Very comfortable and Grade AAA view.

Beautiful place with an even better view!

Our family of four had an incredible stay at Paradise West. From the moment we pulled up the driveway, opened the front door and saw the view off the deck, we were excited! This cabin had everything you could need and more. We enjoyed the sauna, the beach down below, games and the library (to which we added a few books of our own). Thanks again Randa!! Beautiful Haines property

This was a fantastic place to stay. If I were to visit Haines again I would stay here again. The property manager was very nice and responsive, the location and view could not be beat! Very private and nice cabin. The king bed in the master bedroom was more comfortable than my bed at home, loved it! I only have a couple reasons for the 4 star instead of 5 star review. The biggest reason is the front door. It was very non secure once you were inside, there was a chain latch but the screws were stripped out and if anything with hands wanted in they could have easily gotten in. The other reason was the stove. For a couple hundred dollars the small stove could be replaced with a new one. The burners worked but were not flat and the oven was very touchy. We quickly burned our biscuits for our biscuits and gravy. That being said, I would definitely recommend staying here, overall it was a great experience.

Unbeateble view, cozy, feels very private

The log cabin is nicely built with the best view you can find in Haines. All amenities (and much, much more) are present. Beds are really comfy. The host is pretty attentive. Probably one of the best, or the best, rental property in Haines (and we have tried quite a few over the years).

              Outstanding rental

This is great place for an older couple to spend some quiet, relaxing time. The views are amazing and the cabin is very organized and well stocked.
