Hotel is not maintained & repaired

hotel has been made Good but they have not been maintaining as it should be, Taps are leaking, lights are broken, no blankets on bed, Glasses are broken etc Room service & house keeping not attended very bad

Affordable stay

An overall good feel and affordable too. Nice, helpful staff. Comfortable rooms,. but not maintained that well.A little care and maintainence and the hotel can regain its old glory easily

Managable for a short stay

On checking in they denied of complementary breakfast but on submission of the confirmation voucher subsequently agreed as if doing an extra favor.Tea keattle not available in rooms & provided on request only. Service is very poor. Bathroom latch not working. Bathtub not provided. On complaint, changed to another room the next day.here also no plug in the tub to retain water. Food was of good quality. Restaurant staffs are good, well behaved & courteous.

However the service of one staff was not satisfactory. I had negotiated the auto rickshaw rate to 100 and the staff spoke to the rickshaw driver and increased price to 150. .. sad the staff was deceiving.

Run-Down! and not worth it.... anymore.

The location is excellent, but the newer hotels in this area offer much better at the same prices. The room is as if it's never been refurbished since it was first made, 10yrs ago. Broken.... tiles, cupboard corners, false-ceilings, bath tub, etc lead to a shabby outlook. At this price, it's purely an OK hotel. But for regular travellers, I'd say, try at your own risk, I did. Oh and btw, in 2 days, I saw 6 cockroaches in and around my room, from on the bed pillows to in the bath tub. The room provided very bad and basic in-bathroom accessories and a SINGLE towel during my stay. No hand towel, etc. Quality of service people is OK, but that's because they are old hands, they may not be professional, but did seem like they wanted to assist. Overall, for 2.5K, in chennai, you can find other places which are just basic clean and nice. This one simply boasts of size, but hasnt bothered to even try to keep up with the times.

Its a nice hotel

The Checkers hotel is nice but we had a problem with food, after 11 PM in you won't get food and after 10 AM breakfast will not be available :(

When we reached teh hotel, they said there is no booking for us. they made us wait for half an hour in the lobby before alloting the room. moreover as per booking we were to have complementary break fast. When we went for breakfast they said no complementary breakfast is for us . Please do not book any one in this hotel ever

Hotel rooms need renovation

I have so far been very satisfied with the hotels I have stayed in using hotels.com. However, Checkers was my worst experience so far. The room allotted to me was not maintained, the bedsheets smelt like they hadn't been changed for a long time, the bathroom was very badly maintained.....I actually wanted to get out of the place. It was just one night and unfortunately the other rooms did not look very different either. They actually charged me INR 120 for water - although there was no notice in the room on what the water bottles cost. Check out took 30 mins!!! I wouldn't recommend this hotel - bad service, bad upkeep, unprofessional staff!!

It is time to remove this hotel from Expedia

This was the worst hotel I have ever seen. Nothing was clean, Staff gave me a different room after I complained about the horrible condition the room was in. The second room wasn't clean either. The washroom had dirt two inches thick, the taps were covered in rust, the ceiling looked like it was going to fall in. The worst was when the water stopped working and the toilet wouldn't flush. We were scared to drink the water bottles and eat any food at the hotel as we were afraid the food would be in the same condition as the room; disgusting. Expedia needs to do checkup on this hotel.l!!!

Lots of potential - but not quite there yet

Stayed here for three nights. The lobby is fantastic, the layout of the hotel is wonderful, the staff are attentive and helpful, and overall, it was pretty good experience. The hotel is undergoing a renovation and it is much needed. There is water damage evident everywhere. Could be a past problem with the rooftop pool (which is really great!), but I did notice considerable condensation from the AC system. In any event, the place needs some help. Was told by a staff member the owners are building a new hotel and then will dramatically upgrade this site. Really looking forward to it as the place has charm and class, great location and HUGE potential.

Muddy water in the sink and shower!

Please don't go to this hotel, you will see muddy water in sink and shower, hotel staff were rude, they were not attentive at all. It took them 5 hours to change our room and the other room had muddy water as well - do you call this 4 star hotel??
