5/5 Excellent

It was such a wonderful experience staying here. House is equipped with everything one might need for all ages. Kids loved the loft. The views are great. Sandie is very responsive (even on day of Christmas). The only thing is that we couldn't get the outdoor fireplace to work, though that wasn't a big deal and hence didn't bother Sandie for that as it was unusually warm weather for this time of the year.

Wonderful time with the family for Thanksgiving weekend!
We had a lovely time with our family at the cabin (6 adults and a 4-year-old). The star of the property is the kitchen and dining area (seats 8). We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and the kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to prepare and serve the feast. Everyone was happy with their beds, and EVERYONE commented favorably on the unexpected but exfoliating shower pressure on the main level. There is nothing super close to the cabin, but it was close to the main road, so it was easy to get on the hwy. and go on adventures (casino, hiking, and the Polar Express). The driveway was a little tricky with two cars, but we managed. The cabin had a comfortable living room with plenty of games and good WIFI (and Apple TV). The property was clean but there was a fair share of lady bugs. There was ample supply of towels, but the toilet paper was pretty thin (not sure if required for septic tank) and the cabin did not supply bar soap --so if any of those two things are a deal breaker for you --consider bringing your own. If you have a picky family and are wondering about the logistics of the bedrooms: There are two bedrooms in the main level (one with a King and the other with a Full bed). The Full bedroom is the most private and out of the way for those that are bothered by family noise, but it does not have blackout curtains. The loft has a beautiful wood ceiling and two great beds, but it is probably the least quiet from family noise downstairs (also no curtains). The fourth sleeping area is in the basement and although it was drafty, it had great blackout curtains. There is no private door to the basement, but it had a VERY vintage private bathroom. The owners were super responsive whenever we contacted them -- although everything worked perfectly when we were there. I think the only negative for us was having to take the trash out of the property 6-8 miles away (there are two different locations). We did two trash runs during our stay (while going into town) and that was not a big deal. Doing the last run while checking out on a Sunday morning with all the cars packed to the hilt and having to go into the opposite direction (because one of the dumpsters was closed until noon) was not ideal. Despite the trash requirement, I recommend the property without hesitation and would stay there again. Thank you, Sandy, for opening your home to us.

Great space and location
We were visiting local relatives and enjoying the beautiful Fall season. The cabin has great space indoor and out. It was very clean. We prepare our own meals so we enjoyed the larger kitchen and great dining table sitting 8. Our favorite part was sitting on the deck around the fire feature. The driveway is a bit challenging to navigate two or more cars around. When our relatives visited they just parked at the bottom of the hill and hiked up. The main and loft level bedrooms were good. The master in the basement was fine. The bathroom in the basement is dated and there was a dehumidifier that runs day and night. I thought I might have a hard time sleeping with it running but in the end it become like white noise. Water pressure was great and plenty of hot water. We like the Almond location and have stayed at a few of the properties in this area. Easy to get over to Bryson City, the Nantahala White Water Center and Fontana Lake.

4/5 Good

nice and homey in a great location
This property was nice and homey and in a great location for our purposes (near the outdoor attractions around Bryson City). The owner was prompt and helpful in responding to our several inquiries before and during our stay, a big plus. I do recommend a new housekeeping service be considered, though, as quite a few issues that should have been reported prior to our check-in were missed (dead bugs, spider webs and candy wrappers under tables and beds, and the millipede issue in the lower-level suite noted by another guest was in high gear during our stay -- fortunately, our party was small enough to stay on the main level and the loft). The housekeeping service aside, well worth the price.
