Skyview Cabin - Spectacular View, 2 BR, 2 1/2 BA, Hot Tub, Firepit

If a mountain view is what you want, look no further than Skyview Cabin. The wide-open views at 4500 feet elevation of the Great Smoky Mountains, will take your breath away. Skyview Cabin is an excellent place to go to escape and unwind. Relax in the bubbly hot tub while the steaks cook on the grill. For the more adventurous take a long walk up the mountain. For those requiring a little creature comfort, Wi-Fi and internet TV is available. Curl up in front of the wood burning fireplace and download your favorite movie.

For an added twist of fun, the interior stairway is a spiral staircase. The lower level of the cabin includes two bedrooms with queen size beds, a full bath, and access to the lower deck which includes the hot tub. The great room includes a queen size sleeper sofa. Dining area, kitchen, and half bath are located on the top floor along with the upper deck where the charcoal grill is located. Open the large sliding glass doors and enjoy the fresh mountain air and a cool breeze. If you need AC there is a portable unit on the lower level. Enjoy spectacular mountain vistas from either deck. Skyview Cabin is the perfect choice for your mountain get-a-way. And new this spring is the addition of an outdoor firepit with added seating, what better way to enjoy an evening under the stars!

Please note this is a dog friendly property, with a 30-pound weight limit. Please contact the Property Manager at Maggie Mountain Vacations as there will be an additional non-refundable pet fee, not included in the base rent. There is a $300 fee for unauthorized pets. Exterior security cameras are on premise. The approach to this vacation rental is a well-maintained gravel mountain road. We advise during the Fall and Winter Season (more specifically during inclement weather) guests use an all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive for accessibility and/or tire chains.

Less than a 25-minute drive to the heart of Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Area, Tony’s Tube World (snow tubing), Wheels Through Time (historic motorcycle, as featured on History Channels “American Pickers”), horseback riding and golfing. In about 30 minutes, you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.

This cabin is about a 30 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Smoky Mountain National Park, and the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee (even if you do not gamble it has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, and just west of Cherokee is Bryson City (home of the Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday).

A little more than 50 minutes away, you’ll arrive in Asheville at the Biltmore Estates & Winery, several micro-breweries, and 1 hour and 30 minutes away is Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.

Approximately, 60 minutes away heading south to Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas. You are just under 1 hour 30 minutes to Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood).

Awesome space
Literally could not beat the view. Either from the back deck or the hotub. It was everything we expected and then some. Before we are arrived, we definitely stocked up on food/drinks, etc, which was a smart decision. The only thing I’d caution people is that the earlier reviews are very accurate. If the weather is bad, or if it snowed prior, the drive up to the property is definitely not recommended without 4WD or AWD. The town of Maggie valley is great, as well as waynesville. Be on the lookout for elk driving up, as we saw plenty climbing up the mountain. All in all, we will be back, either at this place or something similar.

Dream mountain top cabin & view
My wife and I are exploring areas and lifestyles that we might want to retire to. The Skyline cabin was a dream get away for us and our two dogs. The views from the living area and balcony were breathtaking. It was very quiet and we only heard a few cars a day that passed by our driveway. The seclusion is what we were craving and knowing that someone was within a 1/4 mile was comforting. The cabin itself made us feel like we were in a 2nd home. It took our dogs some initial coaxing to get them up and down the spiral staircase but then no problem. We cooked several meals and took advantage of the satellite TV. The hot tub was nice too. Great location. We were there for 5 days and could’ve easily spent a month or more in the area. One of our main goals of the trip was to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway. You could actually see the traffic in the evening from our balcony. It took less than 15 minutes out our door to get to the parkway. With Great Smokey Mountains to your west and Pisgah forest to the northeast; there is no shortage of outdoor activities. We did not spend much time in town but it had a few restaurants. Went to Waynesville for groceries. The spiral staircase and steepness of the property might make me hesitate to bring toddlers. Do pay attention to 4-wheel drive only. The last 100 yards of the driveway would be challenging otherwise. I highly recommend this cabin to any couple or family that does not have toddlers or babies.

The cabin and views were exactly as pictured. They are serious about the 4- wheel drive recommendation. Location was great. Rental staff advice for food was very helpful.

Breathtaking Views
This property was absolutely perfect! It provided beautiful views of the mountain tops. It is secluded and quiet, and we could only hear the faint barking of a dog in the distance. The house has everything you would want for a nice, peaceful vacation. A full kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, and three sleeping spaces (2 bedrooms and 1 pullout couch). The spiral staircase is awesome also. While we had to carry our small (Mini Dachshunds) up and down the staircase for potty time, it was well worth it. Note: we were made aware of the spiral staircase when we reserved, so were very aware of what we we were walking in to with our small pups. This is no way changed our view of the property. Just be aware this is the only staircase and the only way from the living room/kitchen to the only door to go outside for potty time with dogs. The deck with hot tub also had a very nice view, even during the summer months. This was very surprising as we expected the trees to be full and block the views, but not at this property! There was plenty of firewood on the property also. Yes, we used the fireplace at night in the living room because the temperature dropped to the high 50's, low 60's and we were cold! We only left the property to walk/hike up and down the mountain with the pups daily and it was beautiful. I highly recommend this property if you want to have breathtaking views of Maggie Valley. We will be staying again in the near future.

Loved Skyview cabin
Property was wonderful. Views amazing. The only half star I would give would be the windows. It was cool enough to have the windows raised, and the tracks of the windows could use a vacuuming. This is not a huge deal since mine at home need cleaning within a week of my cleaning them out.

Secluded Retreat
The cabin is modest and has its quirks, but it was the perfect location for a relaxing solo retreat. On the upside, the view is truly spectacular and I enjoyed watching birds and wildlife around the property. The bed was comfortable and the cabin was clean. On the downside, it could use some updates, particularly the carpet and furnishings. The kitchen is not super well stocked and there is no dishwasher. For just myself, however, this was not a major problem and the simplicity was charming. The hot tub seems to be older and it did not work well for me. The management company was very responsive when I called to let them know it wasn't heating, and they sent someone out to reset it that day. Unfortunately, it didn't hold its heat after that and smelled so strongly of chemicals (even with the dispenser removed) that it burned my eyes - so I gave up. The outdoor decks could use a power washing. People with any sort of mobility issue or those with small children should be warned that there are a lot of stairs to get into the house, and a spiral staircase to access the upper kitchen/living area which is tricky to navigate, especially while carrying things. There is no central AC, just a secondary unit downstairs. I was there early enough in the summer that I kept the windows open and the cool mountain breeze worked well, but for hotter weather, I'm not sure the small downstairs unit would suffice. All trash has to be carried away by the guest at the end of your stay or pay a not-so-small fee to have it handled for you. Taking trash away could be challenging with a car full of people and luggage. Driving even a small amount of stinky garbage to the nearest facility wasn't fun. All in all, I would go again by myself or with one other (able-bodied) person for a relaxing visit, but if bringing the family, children, elderly, or a larger group, I would stay elsewhere.

Nice for a first time trip to NC
The good, Great views with a lots of privacy. Amazing wifi, with almost all the amenities needed. Everything was nice and clean. The bad Not easy to get to if you have a larger vehicle, could have been much clearer in the description. Especially in heavy rain like the week we were there. Hidden fees with hand towels was a bit off putting considering the cost your spending. Overall a nice get away but not my first choice next time.

Indeed a Skyview!!
the View was really amazing!!!!. we only have one suggestion though: a DUMBWAITER, lol.....that walk uphill, and that walk around the house, and that climbing up the spiral staircase were a real walk for middle-age couple like us! The gravel driveway was OK, except we drove up with our looooong pick-up truck which is NOT ADVISABLE, because we cannot back-up our truck to the steps of the cabin (no room to back-up and turn). We stayed there with our 4 fur babies and they enjoyed the trees behind the cabin. The hot tub + deck were outdated, but it's OK. Everything else were great.

Perfect get away
We had a wonderful get away from it all. A cute two level cabin with spiral staircase, we spent most of our time on the balcony watching the humming birds zoom in for a drink! You are encouraged to put out the supplied bird seed on the balcony railing for visitors who show up regularly for a treat. The view is peaceful and quiet, just what we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking in, the internet worked well, and we were able to watch movies (an optional TV) on the large TV screen. A cozy get away with everything in working order. It is amazing how close everything you could need or want is for such a secluded spot. Be aware that the road is about 1.5 miles of gravel from the time you leave the blacktop to the cabin. We aren't used to gravel roads but it was fine as there was no danger of snow in May!

Fantastic View!
We had a fantastic weekend in this house. We have stayed in several rental properties over the last 5 years and this one was well appointed. The view from the cabin does not disappoint. The driveway is very steep and you will definitely get a work out loading/unloading your vehicle. We have a Jeep and had no issues with the drive, our friend has a mini SUV and parked at the lower lot. The house sits on a hill and there are a lot of steps to climb. I am only mentioning this because this would be a difficult house for those that have ambulatory or breathing issues. Management company was delightful and responsive. Things to note: The grill is charcoal Fire pit has no chairs Complimentary one roll of TP per bathroom/one roll of paper towels May want to bring beach towels/robe if you plan on using the hot tub (its a chilly walk back to the house) The road to the house is mostly gravel and switchback There are two gates entering the neighborhood that state: Gate may be locked at any point. This may be an issue if there will be inclement weather during your stay None of these things were a deal breaker for us, just a note for future renters to keep in mind. We would not hesitate to stay again.

This is nice cabin high on Sheepback mountain - amazing views. Very well equipped, the owners made sure that everything you could possibly need was available. The hot tub was great and the views from the tub were breathtaking.
