Staff were exemplary - many of them were offering assistance at every turn, it seemed like. And the ambiance of such a historic property can't be beat.
Beautiful location across from millennium park, I booked a room with a view, but even if you don't, you can also take an elevator to the rooftop to see the lakefront.
The hotel staff were super accommodating, I was actually staying there for my wedding weekend, but had my wedding elsewhere. They were able to accommodate my requests for extra chairs for my hair and makeup sessions. And they remembered my name and were very friendly throughout my 2 night stay. The rooms were very spacious, albeit a little dark but that's the style. The bathroom gets a little slippery after a shower because there's only a glass partition for the shower and it sprays onto the tile. The bathroom is humongous though so you can avoid the wet tiles.
The hotel itself was gorgeous architecturally, you can see the history throughout the hotel.
I wish i had more time to spend there but I was busy getting married. I might make an effort to splurge and stay again just to see the amenities.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Charged daily founder fee for access to old game room that was always reserved and we could never play. Staff was mostly rude and did not care about guests. This hotel was the worst part of our vacation to Chicago and I would encourage you to book somewhere else.
We stayed here on our wedding night one year ago. When we decided to go back to Chicago for our 1 year anniversary we tried to stay at another hotel downtown, but were very disappointed when we arrived so we booked a last minute room at the Chicago Athletic Association. From the moment you walk in the staff is so friendly and accommodating. When they heard it was our anniversary they upgraded our room which made our trip even more special. Our only regret is Cindy's was booked for a private event so we will have to return to try to go next time!
