Hosteria Foike March 2014Posted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: The location was close to town but still quite peaceful.
Cons: A more comprehensive introduction to the property and its' facilities would come in handy. Also a run down of tours available.
I booked in here for the end of a seven month overland trip, and was upgraded to a superior room for 3 of the 4 nights I was here. This hosteria is in a convenient location, within 5-10 minutes walk of town and not up too many hills which is a bonus in Ushuaia. It is close to town but still in a reasonably tranquil setting. There are only 4 rooms in the establishment so you won't have to worry about feeling crowded. However, it doesn't have all the facilities of a standard hotel (room service etc) if that's what you're looking for. The staff are friendly and very helpful with taxi bookings and tours.

College DormPosted Feb 10, 2014
Cons: Don't sell rooms that look like college dorms
Location: On a very steep hill, about a mile from town
I stayed here based on the recommendations on Expedia. The hotel is on a steep hill away from town. When I arrived the girl at the front desk was friendly, but didn't speak much English . A man, the owner I assume took my large bag downstairs. I was shocked at the room. Two twin beds in a concrete walled room. No top sheet between you and a scratchy blanket. Upstairs was nicer, but the internet was very hard to access. A couple of times an older woman was arguing/screaming at someone. I went into town, the walk down was fine, but the walk back up was a struggle. During the night the dog next door barked loud and often. In the morning the breakfast was the poorest excuse for food I have ever seen. I didn't expect a lot, and basically had coffee and bread. I had a reservation for another night in two weeks that I canceled. For the price they charge and what you get, stay elsewhere.
