ABOUT The COTTAGE
this cocoon is hidden in the Cul de Sac Bay. Out of sight with a magnificent seaview - the lodge has a tropical spirit and a homely feel. Minutes after arrival, you feel at home. Abandon your cares, lay idly in the small hidden swimming pool or on the lounge admiring the small and bright Cul de Sac bay, or as evening falls listen to the soft melody of sailboats slowly rocking in the cool breeze. The inside of the lodge is designed as a mini loft. It has a wide fully equipped kitchen which opens onto a large deck covered by a sail. The large bedroom touches a tropical garden. Live as a local! Awesome!

Cul de Sac is a residential area with small houses. It is a small village where everybody knows each other.

In the evening before the nightfall, take advantage of the freshness in the air, children playing, families walking with their babies and or their dogs - Watch as people casually walking and joggers pass you by. Admire the view of the wild beach, go trekking or simply live at the same pace of the neighbours! You are welcome. Close to everything and far from the hustle and bustle of the island, everything is very easy to get to. Pinel island is accessible by local boat, stand-up paddle or kayak. Orient Bay beach, Anse Marcel Beach, and Grand Case (the gastronomical capital of the Caribbean) are all a few minutes away. This is an ideal place to rest and take complete advantage completely of the Saint Martin way of life.

RENTER'S BEWARE
Having rented properties for 10 years, this is my 1st negative review. 1. Communication: poor- owner gave incorrect directions to her own property. Only a single-sided piece of paper to describe do's and dont's. 2. Check-in: only received poorly worded/labeled instructions to her home 24-hours prior, via email. Not ideal as internet access is overall sparse, so difficult to communicate as to how to get in touch w/ ownwr despite What's App availability. 3. Accuracy: on arrival to residence, obvously had been smoked in, she ran bedroom A/C temperature too low causing it to not work later however unit replaced quickly the next day (having left our possessions in the unit-she assured me she would be in the unit w/ A/C repair person; only to find door keys stashed in a citronella candle and unlocked, open gate). The entry doors (series of sliders) and windows do not securely loc- overall safety issue. 4. SAFETY: I read the earlier post re. Renter's car being stolen; our car was broken into; obliviously the busy street is attracting the wrong attention and renters should be allowed to park more securely (gated property above the unit) 5. CONVIENCE: single set of bath towels, no face cloths, and lastly only found some beach towels the final day. Lastly no toilet paper provided until I asked. OVERALL: dissatisfied, great secluded, zen-like yard but the unit itself was a disappointment.

Couple’s hidden bungalow
Marion welcomed us at the property and oriented us to the area. We had a few issues the first night, but she was very responsive. Cul de Sac is still recovering from the hurricane of 2017 (pandemic delayed reconstruction, it seems), so it appears more run down than other parts of the island. However, it is a neighborhood and if you desire to spend a few days like a local, this is perfect. Plus, it is a fantastic home base for exploring the rest of the island. Pinel Island across the small bay makes for a perfect beach day with food, drinks, and chairs. The water is crystal clear…. We rented a kayak but often found ourselves hiking through the water. Orient Beach is not far away and was such a nice surprise with excellent restaurant options and beach activities. At the end of the day, the small splash pool was perfect. If you are a couple that wants something other than the insulated resort experience, Marion’s bungalow is the ticket.

This was our send stay at Marion’s in Cul de Sac. The villa is exactly what we enjoy. Cleanliness, privacy, a view and a breeze. We’ll be staying here again next year!

Overall okay
The property itself was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. We didn't have very clear directions for checking in, so that took some time. We contacted the owner regarding the TV not working and she said she would have someone come look at it. However, no one ever came to fix this, even after contacting her a second time regarding this. We didn't have any issues with traffic noise from the road. The views are beautiful from the property. The only other concern for us was that the patio slider doesn't lock. There was a lock on the gate coming up to the house, but the gardener was there about 3-4 times.
