Clean, Quiet, very nice staff

We spent 3 nights on our last trip to Denver area. Easy access to I-70 and just a couple miles from Golden. There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk and a ton within a short drive. The pool was closed for repairs? Not sure why but it was empty. We didn't bring suits anyway, but it's always disappointing to go to a Holiday Inn and not have the overwhelming scent of chlorine. All in all we had a great relaxing stay. Traveled around all day and crashed out in our comfortable quite room.

False claims

Pool was closed for maintenance since 6/25/09, but they did not announce that fact. I booked poolside rooms because of their advertisement of an indoor pool, but it was not availble. I feel I was duped.

A decent hotel, not great.

This was a decent hotel, that wasn't horrible although I don't think I would recommend it. Our non-smoking room smelled like smoke and there was no "fan" to control the room temp or just keep air moving. There was a thermostat that didn't seem to work (It was on 50 degrees the entire length of our stay). However, the best of this hotel for us was that it was not in Denver, but still a short drive and was close to a lot of the other things to do around the Denver area.

Excellent location in Denver

We came to sightsee, go to a ball game and shop. All of these were extremely easy from this location. Lots of great places to eat and shop within walking distance and easy to get to and from the baseball stadium even in the after-game crowds. We were somewhat disappointed with the air conditioner shutting down for no apparent reason all through our stay and with the lack of assistance from the front desk staff although the breakfast staff were excellent. When I asked about finding a retail mall (not an outlet mall) the girl at the desk told me to "just google it" - not that standing at the front desk I would have any sort of computer access and the one lobby computer was occupied. I sort of expected this would be a standard question and one a staff member should be prepared to answer in a more helpful way. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

I picked this hotel strictly on location...it was down the street from the hotel our traveling companions were staying in but which was booked so we couldn't stay in the same one. I was traveling with my three children and thought this looked decent online. My kids were mostly interested in swimming and playing miniature golf, and I was excited at the idea of having both of those available in our hotel, avoiding having to load the kids up to go out. I was a little concerned that this hotel required payment up front, but went ahead and booked (and paid for) the room. When I got there, I found out that their swimming pool was under renovation. They offered me a free pass to a 'local' pool instead, and gave me printed directions. I was frustrated that hotels.com didn't mention the pool being closed. I definitely would NOT have booked a room knowing that. But, I loaded up my three kids to try and find this other pool. The directions were vague. The first line said, "head out of the parking lot and turn right," but there were three ways out of the parking lot. I tried each way, following the directions, but ended up in a shopping center, in a neighborhood, and near the county jail. After 45 minutes, I gave up and went back to the hotel. When I told this story to the front desk clerk, she just looked at me then proceeded to help the next person in line! I was very frustrated, to say the least. And, because I had already paid, I couldn't just leave. My other grievances were minor and could have been overlooked barring the swimming pool debacle. The remote control didn't work on the TV, but maintenance came and fixed it quickly. The bathroom light was missing a cover. The bathtub plug didn't work very well. And, there was no free breakfast. I think I'll avoid Holiday Inn in the future.

The hotel staff was very friendly. We stayed here after a concert at Red Rocks and were very pleased. The hotel is old and needs updating, but definitely stayable.

Unfriendly Staff

This hotel was clean and decorative plus a lot of fun for the kids with mini-golf & ping pong tables; however the staff is terribly rude. Front desk service was not welcoming or friendly on several occasions so we could not even call out one individual, it was all of them. For this we will never return.
