4/5 Good

Beautiful neighborhood. House could use some TLC.
We had no problems with booking or communication. The neighborhood, landscaping, pool, boardwalk, and beach are amazing!! The kitchen and bathrooms in this home are nice and updated. The washer and dryer seemed new and nice. My kids loved the Echo show. We had plenty of nice bath towels and beach towels. However, the water pressure at the kitchen sink was extremely low, and the fridge had a bad odor inside. We were not satisfied with the cleaning service. There were crumbs and hair in the silverware drawer, and food crumbs in other kitchen drawers. There are also ants everywhere. My husband and I spent several hours cleaning upon arrival. Especially during a pandemic, cleaning should be top priority. There are white carpets all over the house, and they are badly stained. The white furniture in the master bedroom is very old, yellowed, and water damaged. The air filter looks like it hasn’t been changed in a long time. The property has some beach chairs that are usable, but you’ll need to bring your own umbrellas, beach wagon, and cooler. We will be back to Sunset Captiva, but we won’t stay in this particular house.

3/5 Okay

Okay, not great but could be with some updates and attention to detail.
Property description says "The lanai area also features a hot tub for ultimate relaxation!". After booking I learned the info was incorrect and was told the site would be immediately updated which still is not so beware - there is NO HOT TUB! There is however an elevator on the lanai. The rental company gave us a nice gift card for the hot tub confusion. If this house did not have white shag carpet throughout it would look and feel SO much cleaner! The carpet of course holds sand and is quite stained which you cannot see in the pictures. We found a wrapped condom between the mattresses in the master and vape pen in the nightstand. The frig is not newer as stated in the description and broke while we were there and had to be repaired but b/c it was a weekend it was 3 days before someone came. The rental company did bring out a mini frig on Sunday that we used until it was fixed. The first day we had to move our items back and forth between the frig and freezer to keep them from spoiling. We lost a few items that were not replaced as promised. These things can happen, however, the ice dispenser on the freezer door does not work either so we had to reach in a get the ice out. The AC also was not working properly when we arrived and in looking around my husband saw the filter hadn't been cleaned in LONG time and was preventing air flow. Another repair person had to come out and also unclogged the AC over the TV in the living room. We learned the house doesn't have an AC maintenance plan. Other items that need some attention are the kitchen faucet and sprayer that aren't working properly and you have to adjust each time you use them. The master bath shower faucet was installed improperly and the brass stopper pops out on the shower floor every time you turn the shower off and has to be manually put back in each time. The towel rod in the downstairs bathroom easily falls apart and has to be reinserted, the carpet on the lanai is old and there's a broken/deteriorated towel rack out there that is unusable. Also the beach chairs are mostly old and rusty and 2 broke completely just sitting in them while we were there. A couple of others were better but I'd suggest bringing your own. The good things about the house are the kitchen and bathrooms have been nicely updated minus the issues I already mentioned. The neighborhood and location on the island are very nice. The beach is a little walk but doable. The layout is nice and sleeps 8+ easily not 6.

Captiva Paradise
We had an awesome stay here for our Spring Break vacation! House was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked and had more than everything we needed to make our vacation memorable. Proximity to the beach, the restaurants and easy access to watersports makes this a prime location to stay. Community is very calm, quiet with loads of wonderful people, here ncluding George. Watch for him cleaning the grills and stop by to chat. Super friendly and full of great information/suggestions.

Captiva Idyll
We always enjoy our time in Captiva and especially like the location of the Sunset Captiva enclave. That being said, this is our fourth house in the complex. We primarily rented here because we are two older couples (no children) and require 2 larger beds. The bedrooms were nice. We did miss the convenience of a separate power room. The water pressure in the unit was somewhat sketchy. We enjoyed the screened porch at times but the proximity of the neighbor's noisy A/C unit cut down our time there. The ice maker was frozen solid upon arrival. My husband who is handy was able to fix that. Also, the beach chairs and "umbrellas" that were left were poor. We did enjoy the beach though there were some red tide issues and the pool was nice as always.

5/5 Excellent

Excellent house in an excellent location
This was our first trip to Captiva and it didn't disappoint The house was wonderful: comfortable beds, plenty of space, well appointed kitchen, screened porch, lots of beach and bath towels, beach chairs, two individual beach umbrellas, parking, two minute walk to pool, beach boardwalk next to pool, and a gorgeous beach. It never seemed crowded on the beach or in the quaint little town. Very easy walk (5 minutes) to restaurants, ice cream, and coffee. Doc Fords, RC Otter, Mucky Duck, and Keylime Bistro were all great places to eat. The water was warm, calm and shallow for quite a distance out. We saw dolphins everyday. Twenty minute drive to several other good restaurants on Periwinkle Road- try the Island Cow and Joey's for ice cream. We did do the 35 minute drive the second day to a Walmart to stock up, but never felt the need to do it again. There is a small market next to the house that had a little bit of everything. My family loved the walkability of this location. We would love to return! Kim is easy to work with. We had some issues with the wifi and cable, but she was on top of it and checked in with me by text to make sure it was taken care of.
