The town grew in importance when it was named Carbon County’s seat in 1843.Its steep hillsides, narrow streets, and terraced gardens earned the town its nickname “The Switzerland of America.” The beauty of this region has beckoned people for almost two centuries. Today, the restored Old Mauch Chunk Railroad Station serves at the hub of the town offering visitor services and train rides into Lehigh Gorge. The Mauch Chunk Opera House presents live theater and music. Visit the home of Asa Packer, founder of Lehigh University. 3/5 Okay

    Okay
The place is simply just okay. Biggest downsides are parking, and the residence itself could you some tlc, but for the price of the stay and the amount of space you get is fair so I can't fault the space too much.

    5/5 Excellent

    Great house, nice area
We had a very nice, relaxing stay. The house was very clean, and had everything we needed. Air conditioners were on when we arrived which was a nice touch. Beds were comfortable, outside deck was great. We spoke to a few neighbors who were all very nice. We enjoyed a great day just shopping and checking out the local small businesses and shops.

    3/5 Okay

    cozy house
nice home however the cleanliness left something to be desired, hair all over the bathroom, and crumbs in the refrigerator. the first hour and a half spent cleaning the bathrooms.

    4/5 Good

    Nice place but awful WiFi
The house is very nice as well as the neighborhood. But the WiFi is awful!I had to do some work stuff and I really needed internet connection but nothing worked.

    2/5 Poor

    Disappointed
Pictures did not truly match up. Examples are TVs in rooms but only one able to be on with cable at a time, dryer took 4 cycles to dry one load, whole house is uneven with noticeable drop to which the owners put cardboard and slabs of wood to even out furniture. NO PARKING! And if there is the neighbors give dirty looks if you park there (even though a lot is adjacent to home, it’s blocked so you can’t park). Power went off twice. Mouse poop on the pans in kitchen...etc. And to top it off the adjoining home was abandoned and the house had a weird smell.
