"Very ‘old school’ facility that’s been around 50+ years… but, is simple, clean and very nice staff!!! Close by to downtown Hilo and is in a residential area. The fresh coffee, papaya & banana bread in the morning was very ono!!! We’ll definitely stay here again with our ohana on our next weekend trip to Hilo."

"We really enjoyed our stay in Honomu. The home is comfortable and well appointed. Sitting on the second floor balcony and enjoying the forest scenery as well as the ocean in the distance was a highlight. The cool air was refreshing and kept the home a comfortable temperature. We appreciated having laundry facilities available and used the kitchen daily. The day geckos were fun to watch scurrying around. At night, the coqui frogs were quite vocal. If the windows are open, one may want to use ear plugs. The sound only bothered one of the four in our group, and the rest thought it was delightful. We used the location as a home base to visit Hilo, nearby waterfalls, beaches, and the local zoo. The Hamakua Toffee shop is not to be missed. While the home is a bit off of the beaten track, that is a big part of its charm. It was a relaxing place to get away. "
