This spacious, well appointed apartment, with newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom, is located in Kailua-Kona, Big Island, on one acre of land, on a private road, and overlooks 15 acres of grassland and jungle, with background ocean views. At 938 feet above sea level, the property enjoys morning and evening breezes, cooler temperatures, and spectacular sunsets. This apartment is one of two ground level apartments in a two story private home (owners reside in the 2nd floor living space); it is the right unit in the photos taken facing the sliding glass entrance doors. Each apartment has a separate outside entrance which is located on the opposite side of the house from the owner’s 2nd floor entrance. The owners are very quiet and considerate of guest privacy but they are always available to answer questions, make suggestions, and provide directions.
The apartment has one large bedroom, with a high quality queen sized mattress, one bathroom, and a dining/living area/kitchenette. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 2 people.

The home is conveniently located just off of Palani Road and it is only a 13 minute drive from the Kona Airport (KOA), a 7 minute drive to the Kailua-Kona pier and the Ali’i Drive “old-town” tourist and restaurant district, a 5 minute drive to Walmart, and a 10 minute drive to Costco. Additional attractions include multiple nearby world-class snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and turtle/whale watching beaches, multiple golf courses, and numerous coffee plantations, farmers markets, restaurants, historic sites and other tourist attractions. As an added bonus, the property is a great spot for bird watching, including wild parrots, kalij pheasants, francolins, wild turkeys, cardinals, saffron finches, various song-birds, pueo (Hawaiian owl), and 'io (Hawaiian hawk).
Additional amenities include air conditioning, 40" cable tv, highspeed internet, barbeque grill, outdoor dining area, shared laundry access, use of snorkeling gear, beach towels and beach chairs, and off-street parking for one car per apartment. Also available, upon request, is a portable mini-grill and a portable Coleman camping stove, for use during your outings. The kitchen and bathroom were remodeled in October of 2020 and the unit has newer furnishings, is very clean, and has everything you will need, including stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker (combined K-cup & large large drip-pot). Out of respect for the health of owners and other guests, smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property (prohibited areas include all indoor and outdoor areas) - closest area where smoking is not prohibited is the street adjacent to the property.

Covid Cleaning Notes: A minimum of 48 hours of vacant time will be maintained between each reservation, and a thorough deep-cleaning will be completed no less than 24 hours before guest check-in. All horozontal and touch surfaces, including knobs, handles, remotes, light switches, and furniture are cleaned and disinfected, using EPA/CDC approved Covid-19-killing-products, between each guest. Glasses, dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans, and silverware will be clean but sanitization of these items is not guaranteed because there is no dishwasher in the unit; however, disposable paper/plastic plates, bowls, glasses and silverware are provided for your convenience. As an added protection, each room is subjected to a sterilizing UV light treatment between guests.
Covid 19 HVAC Notes: This unit has a completely separate air conditioning system and there is no shared duct-work or "shared-air" between this unit and any other unit.
Covid 19 Condiment Notes: To the extent that single serving packets of creamer, mustard, ketchup, mayo, and soy sauce are available at the local Costco store, these items will be stocked in the apartment at no cost to you.
Covid Quarantine/Cancellation Notes: Hawaii has implemented strict Covid-19 quarantine requirements that may affect the quality of your vacation and may affect your ability to stay at this property.
As of the current date, to avoid Hawaii’s 10 day travel quarantine, you must get a Covid 19 test, from a Hawaii-approved testing facility, no more than 72 hours prior to your flight from the mainland to Hawaii, and you must create a “Safe Travels Hawaii” account (at https://travel.hawaii.gov) and upload your negative results to your account PRIOR to boarding the final leg of your flight to Hawaii.
As of June 15, 2021, if you have been fully vaccinated, in the United States, you will not need to test again for inter-island travel. This means that although you will need to get tested before your flight from the mainland to Hawaii, you won’t need to retest, within the islands, if you are traveling to more than one island during your visit (provided, that you bring proof of vaccination within the U.S.).
On June 25, 2021, the Governor announced that effective July 8, 2021 the State of Hawaii will eliminate its pre-travel testing/quarantine requirement for domestic travelers to Hawaii who have been fully vaccinated in the United States. Vaccinated domestic travelers must upload their CDC issued vaccination record card to the state’s Safe Travels Hawaii website and have that card with them upon arrival in the State of Hawaii.
Note that if you are required to pretest and do not upload your results to your Safe Travels Hawaii account prior to the last leg of your flight, the State will require that you quarantine for 10 days. And, if you are required to quarantine, County law prohibits us from renting to you and you will need to quarantine in a hotel. For this reason, the key box code will be given to you after we receive confirmation of your exemption from quarantine. Therefore, when you upload either your negative test results or your domestic vaccine card to the State's Safe Travel's Hawaii website, please email a copy to us at email@example.com. Or text a photo/screen-shot of this info to us at 808-225-2266. I will then email the key box code (and wifi password) to you.
Note that for as long as pre-travel Covid testing is required by the State of Hawaii, you will be given a full refund if you cancel because you tested positive on the pre-travel test.
