My partner and I spent a weekend at Hasbrouck House as our baby moon. The inn is beautiful, both for its colonial detail and its modern design. Our room was on the top floor and a bit small but had lovely hard wood floors and a modern bathroom so we were comfortable and cozy. Although it was winter, the grounds are still wooded and beautiful, particularly with a sprinkling of snow. We had two meals at the restaurant in the hotel, Butterfield, and really enjoyed them - our only regret was not eating there a third time! I would just note that there were no elevators that I was aware of and our room was on the the third floor, up two narrow and steep flights of stairs, so anyone with mobility issues might want to make sure they are getting a room they can access comfortably. I believe there are a few in the carriage house at ground level.
As to the local area, the inn is located in the middle of the Hudson Valley, near to many picturesque small towns. If you like the outdoors, antiquing or eating well, you will enjoy the area (though you will want to have a car to do so).
