We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for a long weekend, and will look here first if we’re back in the area.
This is a lovely old farmhouse that was undergoing some exterior renovations during our stay, and the Ohly family made us feel welcome. Delicious, inventive breakfasts every morning made with farm fresh ingredients (many of them sourced from their own farm… great coffee with fresh cream is just what we needed to get ourselves going first thing).
The property is quite large, plenty of room for hiking around and exploring if you’ve a mind to. Animals are everywhere, both wild and domestic, so if that’s not your thing you might want to reconsider, but if you’re a nature lover you’ll be in your glory.
If you want to sleep late, shut the windows… the roosters are quite insistent on an early start. Otherwise, enjoy the breezes and nighttime country sounds of crickets and peepers, interspersed with the occasional muffled snort of nearby farm animals.
All in all, this was a welcome respite from our city dwelling life and we look forward to another visit.
