Not a great place to stay.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: It is close to the town centre and blackpool tower, but really far from pleasure beach and the swimming pool. We walked far too much.
The shower was dirty. Thwe toilet was dirty. The room was small and horrible. tiny double bed. Not a nice experience. The service was ok, although we had to ask how to close the window and for wifi. They don't come and clean the mugs and empty the bin during the day like other places I have been to do. There is no attention to detail what so ever. The only good thing is when we checked out they held our bags so that we could enjoy our day without carrying them around.

We had a good stay we were met with a warm welcome. The B & B is basic but you get what you pay for. The breakfast was fabulous a good hearty meal. Very good location very central. Would stay again.

Handily located 5 minutes from Blackpool Central.

Pros: It's cheap, clean, and has comfortable beds. It also has helpful, friendly new young owners who aren't your traditional Blackpool landlady types.
Cons: The shower room needs sorting out, the hotel generally is a bit gloomy inside, and the wall sockets are strangely located!!
Location: Great - at a gentle stroll, it took me 7 minutes to reach Sea Life, and has a tram station - Manchester Square - more or less at the top of the road.
Very much a work in progress, I've rated the Crooked Retreat higher I think than most might, for reasons I'll explain. Under new ownership, the hotel is in desperate need of modernisation; it is clear to me that the previous owners allowed it to run down to a critical level. However, the basics are in place now. Firstly, apparently committed owners, helpful and keen to leave a good impression and aware that most would find their hotel lacking. This is good: to fix a problem, you have to see it, and these owners do. Only time will tell if they do. For the time being, however, the low price reflects fairly on the overall condition of the premises. In terms of the basics, most importantly, the bed was comfortable, sheets, pillowcases and quilts clean. Hot and cold running water, with good pressure, and a plentiful supply of teas, coffees and sugar, plus kettle and tv were found in my room. At present there's just nowhere you can look that can't be improved in this hotel, but as it stands currently an awful lot could be achieved simply by redoing all the paintwork, to start with. The downstairs bar room and lounge are in good order, and for me I think simply getting round the rooms one by one, and not scrimping on the critical eye, is the way for the new owners to go. Things like locks and hinges could all be tightened up at little or no cost. As it stands, recommended for students, young people and short-stays, 5 mins from Blackpool centre. Could be a great backpackers hostel.

never again

First day we got there we was greeted friendly but was shocked when we got shown are room , we was expecting a twin room with 2 single beds we got bunk beds , we also had to ask them to change the bedding as it had hair on , the room was suppose to be none smoking we found a full ashtray in the window full of cigarette ends , and on closer inspection we found ear buds and tissue under the BUNK bed , so don't think it got cleaned properly after there last customer , on out second day there we did get moved to a bigger room with a double bed and a set of bunk beds and the owner did apologise our second room was a lot cleaner we was happy as we was planning on looking for somewhere else to stay . At the time we was there the owners were decorating as the b&b was in a poor state , maybe they should finish the decorating first before letting anyone stay there as when we used the toilet if you touched the frame around the toilet door you did get paint on you all in all we didn't rate the b&b but the owners were really friendly

The hotel was a disgrace. Nothing like the advertised pictures. A twin room with facilaties turned out to be a set of bunk beds. A single door wardrobe and sink completed the room. The bathroom was next door and the toilet was down the hall. The curtain did not fit the window and the door did not fit correctly letting light into the room all night. There were no towels provided or toiletries. Breakfast was not available or offered. There was no parking in the streets surrounding the hotel and needed to park in a car park adding more expense. Myself and my son left after one night even though I had booked for two. Surely there must be some way of checking if the photo's placed on your website are for real!!!!!!!!!!

Close to Central Pier - Crooked Retreat is a cheap, no thrills place to stay. The decor was looking tired, but that's not what I was there for. If you just want a place to crash out after a busy day, this is fine.
