Service can be lacking

We had read many reviews about the poor service at the Homestead, but there aren't many quality options in the area, so we gave it a try. Initial impressions were very positive - young lady at check-in was very pleasant and helpful. Problems began the first night as our A/C was not functioning properly. Someone came over right away but wasn't able to do anything to fix it. Maintenance was gone for the night so we were out of luck. We asked them for a fan (It was cool outside but very stuffy in the room) but they couldn't get us one because only maintenance had a key to the area containing that kind of stuff!! Needless to say, that was a little frustraing. It was even cooler the next day/night, so we were ok without the A/C but it would have been nice if they could have helped us the first night. They did end up giving us a discount on the room, which was nice, but we did have to ask for it. Also, breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired. Constantly out of food/coffee/condiments and food that was available was pretty lame.
