2 Luxury Retreats on 40 acres -Hot Tubs & Fire Pits for family & friend reunions

NEW COMBINED LISTING OF TWO CABINS WITH OVER 340 FIVE STAR REVIEWS ON VRBO - with two outdoor Hot Tubs and firewood for the fire pits.

The Cottage and Log House luxury retreats are two charming sister properties on the same property with nearly a century old history. These rustic homes, while fully maintaining the original charm of their history, have been brought into current times with all of the modern conveniences. The two properties - winners individually of over 340 five star reviews on VRBO/HomeAway - have been recently brought together as one listing, as they sit only 100 yards from each other on 40 acres, which allows for privacy, as well as a feeling of togetherness on your terms. This arrangement makes for a memorable location for family reunions and trips with larger guest numbers - perfect for 2-3 families. The homes are just a short drive from the old gold mining town of Mariposa (www.yosemite.com/things-to-do). And for nights on the property, get ready to enjoy the dark night sky with breath-taking star gazing. They homes are also perfectly located halfway between both Yosemite entrances – so you can experience the uniquely different beauty of each.

THE COTTAGE RETREAT - 3 bedroom with 2 full baths:
(See Full Listing with review at www.VRBO.com/754978.)

In the Cottage Retreat you’ll find all the amenities you will need in this recently renovated 3 bedroom cozy cottage with 2 full baths that sleeps up to 8 guests. When you enter, you won't find the musty stuffiness, typical of many vacation rentals. There is all new vintage furniture. The modern kitchen has all new solid stone surface counters and is decorated to look and feel like an old style farm house. The cottage decor is professionally done to feel comfy with great function. There are 3 flat screen Smart TV's, free Wi-Fi and some cell services that work well (Verizon has been two or more bars). Complimentary Netflix movies are provided in the living room..

There are two outside sitting areas - one is a front porch looking at the woodlands and any wildlife and the other belongs to the master bedroom with its own private deck to sit, allowing some private time. A bbq is nearby along with a rock fire pit that can be used (except during times of higher fire risk). The outside area is large and level, making it a great place for kids to play, ride bikes and explore nearby.

Your new home is a two story farm house cottage with pine accents from the natural surroundings. You’ll find two bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom downstairs with its own bath. Natural materials were used to accent the home’s history lending to its warmth and the charm of times gone by. The floors upstairs are original, but reworked during the special renovation.

The living room, dining area and kitchen are all open, allowing you to enjoy watching your favorite movies or shows and to stay warm with the fireplace in the cooler months.

We have central air-conditioning and heat for your comfort any time of the year (a rare, desirable feature in such rustic homes, as opposed to typical noisy wall units). You'll find a new, easily accessible laundry room with washer and dryer. Here is another nice unique feature - you won't be bothered while trying to sleep by creaky floorboards with people walking above - the downstairs master bedroom has no second floor above it.

THE LOG HOUSE RETREAT - 2 bedroom with 2 baths:

THE LAND:

Set on 40 acres, the property will invite you to take leisurely hikes on marked paths and enjoy the forested and scenic views. You can see the Sierra Moutains from locations on the property. Peace and quiet are the best things you’ll notice when you stay at the Cottage and Log House Retreats. They are set back just off the main route 49, near the historic town of Mariposa and is half way between two entrances to Yosemite Park. You’ll want to sample both easy but different drives into Yosemite - either via the west entrance with HWY 140 along the valley floor beside the Merced River or via the south entrance with HWY 41 through the Sierra mountains.

These locations provide a great place to retreat to after a busy day with the crowds of summer in Yosemite. The cabin and cottage are also a great hideaway in the fall, winter and spring. As the temperature drops, the property, with its special setting, may welcome you with a beautiful snowscape.

Should you decide to come with more friends or family, we also have our sister property of 2 Bedroom Valerian Retreat - winner of over 160 five star reviews (VRBO # 462086). Valerian Retreat sleeps up to 6 guests and is about 5 minutes away. All three of the properties can be found on our website (bit.ly/YosemiteRusticLuxuryRetreats).

Our properties are a great starting location for day trips to many points of interest:

To Yosemite through west entrance –
Go north on route 49 to reach the arch rock highway 140 entrance that takes you through the historic town of Mariposa and along the valley floor of the scenic Merced River canyon. It is a beautiful drive which will take you about 45 minutes to an hour to reach the park. There are many places along the road to stop and enjoy the wild and scenic river. This area is known for spectacular wild flower viewing.

To Yosemite through south entrance –
Go south on route 49 to reach Oakhurst - a larger town with many services, dining and shopping options. In Oakhurst, you will turn left onto highway 41 east to wind your way up the mountain into Yosemite Park through the quaint little villages of Fish Camp and Wawona – both places of many interests. Near Wawona is the must see Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods. As you drive further toward Yosemite just after the tunnel, be sure to pull off to see the spectacular view of the Yosemite valley from above.

• Bass lake is located fifteen minutes from Oakhurst. It is a hopping place during warm weather for water sports and just catching some sun and a picnic for the day. Bass lake offers water sports rentals, shops, casual as well as fine dining options. 'Ducey's on the Lake' is a favorite restaurant.

• There are 3 local golf courses just minutes away: Sierra Meadows, River Creek and Wawona; the latter is just inside Yosemite.

• During the winter months you can travel to Badger Pass to enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

• Many of the communities have many other activities throughout the year! On local websites you can find events like festivals, the arts and wineries to explore. Mariposa has a zip line and river rafting in the summer, as well as horseback riding on forested trails.

• Mariposa has its own airport just 10 minutes from town and 20 minutes from the cabin. Car rentals are available at the airport with advance reservations.

• Fresno international Airport is about 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the cabin.

Log House Retreat is owned by Cottage Retreats LLC.

Wonderful Experience
Our family and friends had a wonderful time. The properties are close enough to go back and fourth yet still have plenty of privacy and solitude if needed. Beautiful homes, very clean and cozy. Thank you for the experience!

Quiet and secluded
Just what myself and my family was looking for. Quiet and semi-secluded large property convenient to attractions we wanted to visit and access to small town. The cabins are well taken care of by someone with attention to details. My family of six used both cabins. The 2 or 3 minute walk between cabins was actually pleasant and felt like you were visiting close friends. The trails on the property are a nice bonus. We saw turkeys and deer right outside the front door. I have to mention the excellent breakfast we had at the Sportsman Cafe a short drive from cabins. Very personable and friendly staff. We did have an issue at first with the a/c at the cottage retreat, but Ted and Connie were right on it and resolved to my satisfaction.

Best VRBO we've ever had
Every year about 10 of us from far flung corners of the country come together for Thanksgiving, and this one was by far our best experience yet. The care the owner takes with these properties is palpable; wonderfully rustic as you want, and thoroughly -- and indulgently -- modern at the same time. And the advisory he sent before our arrival was the most complete we've ever seen. Meant we could be excited as much enroute as when moved in. HIghly recommended and we hope to go back.

Great spot from which to visit Yosemite!
The properties were very clean and well-appointed. Both had everything we needed and were very comfortable. The beds were wonderful. They were a short walk from each other - further than we anticipated but not a problem. Very comfortable and did I say CLEAN (this is my highest priority). We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others who are looking for a place to enjoy family and/or friends but be close enough to drive in and enjoy Yosemite as well.

The house was amazing
There were some slight problems which I addressed with the property owner and seems like he really wants to fix it and went above to help so I’m not gonna air that out but the house itself was amazing the log cabin is definitely the main house to be in. The property itself is beautiful and maintained. We will definitely be back again.

Lovely with close Yosemite Access
The properties were so nice, and my friends and I were really impressed by the spaciousness of the homes. It was about an hour from the El Portal entrance to Yosemite, which is pretty close as far as housing outside the park goes. Made use of the grill and the kitchen quite a bit. Appreciated the many utensils available. Ted was very responsive on VRBO. Happy to have stayed here!

Our family vacation
These cabins are delightful to stay in, i.e., quiet and charming. If I had recommendations, it would be the following: These cabins are close by, but not side by side (maybe that was my oversight). Very easy to access and go back and forth between (not an issue). The one-floor cabin needs the master room mattress replaced or a mattress pad. Our experience with the hosts was just super - very attentive and responded to my requests as quickly as possible. We loved the place, i.e., had deer outside in the morning. We built campfires every night and the 4-year-old roasted marshmallows, mountain pies, etc. That was her favorite time of day. There are trails around the cabins you can peruse. Our lab was in doggie heaven being able to explore and be involved with the family. We explored Yosemite National Park (it is a bit of a distance to the entrance but accurate on the site). Highly recommend if you are looking to bring families together and have a beautiful time together! Oh, the 4-year-old loved the horse shoes and encouraging the 3 families to play. Made many memories here! Thank you!
