    About this property

Perfect for Couples - Stylish Apartment: sea Views, Free Wifi and new Kitchen

    Adults-only apartments in Mercadal
This apartment is a 'back row' property in the quietest community of Playas de Fornells. It benefits from a swimming pool for the exclusive use of residents and sundecks with spectacular sea views. The flat has a traditional Menorcan kitchen but with a brand new fridge, hob and microwave. The balcony is the perfect place to eat, or have a glass of wine, while enjoying the sea views, watching the boats from Fornells. The flat is someway up the hill and is accessed by the stairs (shown in the photograph of the carpark) or via a small rocky path. Thus it is not suitable for those with limited mobility. We have just installed wi-fi but if you really want to disconnect let us know and we will hide the 'code'. The flat has everything necessary for the perfect holiday. Playas de Fornells is considered to be the most attractive development in Menorca. It has supermarkets, bars, excellent restaurants and is an ideal place to relax and unwind. The apartment and Playas de Fornells: The apartment is on the 'back row' of a small and well maintained community within the Playas de Fornells development. This means that it is very quiet, and has views across the roofs of the lower flats to the sea. As the flat faces north the balcony remains out of the sun for most of the day, so it is ideal for eating. Outside the front door is a total suntrap, so if you don't feel like going to the beach, you can just park yourself outside and bake quietly in the sun, with a view of the hills behind the apartment. The apartment is within walking distance of the supermarkets, bars, and restaurants and even the beach at Cala Tirant, (1.25km away, about 15-20mins walking) if you want to have a totally laid back holiday and not even hire a car. The area around Playas de Fornells: Close to Playas de Fornells are some of the most beautiful beaches in Menorca, including the delightful Cala Pregonda. Five minutes by car or a stunning 20 minute walk around the headland is the beautiful fishing village of Fornells, famous for its seafood restaurants and the watersports available in the magnificent bay. 7km away is Es Mercadel, a pretty market town, which has some of the very best restaurants on the island, together with a number of interesting non-tourist shops and art galleries. Es Mercadel is situated at the base of Monte Toro, the highest point on the island, and is famous for its biscuits and pastries. If you want to explore the island further it is worth hiring a car and we are able to organise that for you at very competitive rates. Menorca is a little jewel of an island, smaller and quieter than Mallorca it is an ideal place for a holiday with its numerous beaches, sunshine and fantastic restaurants. But it is more than just a tourist island, with a thriving shoe industry and cheeses that are famous throughout Spain. If you are driving along the back lanes, you may come across some of the farms that sell their own cheese, always worth a visit. There is plenty of ancient history to explore and enough small shops in boutiques in the main towns to keep shoppers happy. Menorca, the whole island, has been declared a nature reserve by the EU, and it is well deserved with an interesting variety of flora and fauna, as well as geology and birdlife. For those who like walking and/or cycling it is almost perfect. In the apartment there are a number of guidebooks together with specific walking maps and guides. When to visit: Low season: October to March: As the flat has double glazing and a heater it is warm and cozy inside. There is total peace and quiet. Ideal for writing! Also ideal for walking and exploring the island - as long as you have warm and waterproof clothes. Everything at Playas de Fornells will be closed, but Es Mercadal has plenty of shops, supermarkets and restaurants that are open all year. As with everywhere else, during the holiday period, most of the museums etc. will also be closed. There is no public transport at Playas de Fornells, so a car is essential. Mid season: April, May: The Spring will bring the fantastic flowers and fabulous walking and cycling conditions. It will still be very quiet and peaceful on the island. Some restaurants may be open in the Playas de Fornells, but you will be better off going into Es Mercadal for shopping and eating. The weather can be nice, but also can be chilly. It may be too cold to swim in the sea. There is some public transport, but a car is still essential. High Season June, July, August, September: Everything is open in Playas de Fornells, but Tamarindos will still be quite peaceful. The sea will be warm and the island will be buzzing. While having a car makes getting around easier, it is possible to have a great holiday using public transport. October: A few restaurants may still be open in Playas de Fornells, better to go into Es Mercadal for shopping and eating. The sea may still be warm enough to swim in, but it may get chilly, so bring warm clothes.

      Fabulous stay in stunning location

We had a lovely time here with the best of weather for February. The accomodation had everything we needed and was warm and cosy. Alison was the best host we have ever had giving us so much information to enable us the get the best from our holiday. Thank you we hope to be back!

      5/5 Excellent

The owners made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

It was just as advertised. Would highly recommend to all. Lots to see and do in Menorca which caters for all ages & tastes.

        5/5 Excellent

          So looking forward to this...

I was all set for and so looking forward to this: quiet and attractive, in a lovely location and easily reached by public transport. A last minute cancellation due to unforseen personal reasons has not put me off either. I was absolutely bawled over by Alison's empathy and thoughtfullness throughout. I am determined to give it another go later in the year and, judging by the owner, I am sure the property will meet all expectations and more!!

          5/5 Excellent

            Relaxing break away.

We have just left Tamarindos 403, with some regret! Our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. We found the apartment, as described, small but effective for a holiday stay for us. We stayed for 16 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our break. The apartment was clean and very welcoming. Alison had left some goodies for us, to start our stay, these were most welcome. We travelled light and used the effective public transport for our stay. We frequently walked around the coast to Fornells and took the bus to Ciutadella, Es Mercatal and Alaior. The bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away and the capital Mahon can easily be reached by bus too. We would recommend the guided tour of the convent in Ciutadella, lot of useful history of the island was learnt here. We also loved the jeep tour. Our driver was a keen archaeologist and his knowledge gave us good insight into early civilisations which inhabited Menorca. We would also recommend the local restaurant Cafe del Nord. We ate their on a number of evenings. On other evenings the apartment provided the facilities needed to prepare and make a tasty meal. The lovely apartment and wonderful views out to sea were central to our fantastic holiday! Thank you Alison and Richard for the use of your apartment and the information imparted before and during our stay. Would love to visit again!

              Excellent apartment

We stayed at Alison’s apartment 10-20th July 2019. On arrival everything was spotlessly clean, tidy and beautifully furnished. Alison had left us a lovely selection of Menorcan goodies including a very welcome bottle of wine as well as the basic requirements to start our stay. We have stayed in this complex before and were looking for a quiet break with a lovely view over the sea and we were not disappointed.... the view was breathtaking. We could have sat on the balcony all day !!! There is a lovely pool to cool off in about 1 minute walk away. Also a few bars and restaurants 5-15 minutes walk. From the initial booking enquiry Alison gave us excellent feedback and sent us lots of useful information about restaurants supermarkets and places of interest. Alison was very accommodating regarding our slightly early arrival and staying a little later in the apartment on our day of departure. We had an absolutely amazing holiday and will be returning next year. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment if you are looking for a peaceful time away. Thank you Alison for your kindness and hospitality.
