Let me start off by saying the people were friendly, so no complaint there. The room was in need of an update, 30 years ago. There is no a/c so we all spent the entire time sweating and unable to sleep. The ceiling fan didn’t do much to help and was so low my husband kept accidentally putting his hands in it every time he lifted to do anything. The lights had spider webs with dead flies stuck to them. The sheets and towels were clean but that was about it. The floor, walls and everything else was dirty and dingy. The microwave and fridge shared a plug-in. Which was an extension cord that did not look safe. We had to unplug the fridge to use the microwave. We tried to use the microwave and a blow dryer at the same time and our power went out. Since the office doesn’t open till 9:00 we went without power for 45 mins till it opened. I could go on with all the bad, but let’s just say I will never book there again. All in all I knew I was booking a cheap Motel but this one takes the cake.

The hotel rooms are overpriced, Totally outdated. The shower head you have to point to the wall or the water would drip outside of the tub. There is hardly any hot water and it was summer. The furniture in the room was extremely old, almost no electric plugs to connect devices. The coffee pot must be 60 years old. The towels are paper thin. I understand that because covi 19, the pool is closed, but they should at least clean it. The water is brown and that is a growing ground for mosquitoes. The $100 I paid for the room was totally overpriced.

Walking to the room, up a weathered set of stairs and navigating a narrow walkway past some long term guest's smoking chair - a folding chair with a fold up platform holding a makeshift but well-used ashtray, and the remains of a couple Diet Coke cans - I began to get concerned. On entering the room I saw it was was 'clean', but the sour smell of very old and stale carpeting, and the mildew from the shower curtain were very off-putting. The rooms lack A/C and so depend on an open sliding door and the ceiling fan for fresh air. Unfortunately, the fan was broken, and the 4 lights below the fan were each populated by a different light bulb type - incandescent, coiled CFL, and 2 different color temperature LEDs, casting a very unusual light. The bath was clean with the exception of the grout which was in desperate need of deep cleaning, especially surrounding the toilet. The towels, thin though they were, at least smelled clean, as did the sheets. All the wood trim seems to be original, but maybe circa 1970. The finish in several areas is simply worn away to bare wood from decades of cleaning. The dark colors of the paint, and minimal lighting did nothing to alleviate the persistent oppressive feeling. I have never in nearly 50 years of travel stayed in a place in such great need of a makeover. Some investor should swoop in, replace the decks and stairs before someone puts a foot through the wood, gut the rooms, and give it a fresh start.
