It was just OKPosted Oct 5, 2015
As far as the room goes it was nice, but the juquzzi one was cold and the other half full, the warm one. Elevator was slow, and rain came threw the sliding door to the balcony.

It was close to the beach which was nice also it was easy to find the way from the hotel to the beach a lot of signs in the hotel. They should offer at check in chairs for the beach the ones you can rent. The view fromy room and I was in the 12 floor was very nice

Bathroom Nice older hotelPosted Sep 13, 2015
Very comfortable bed. The bathroom had been updated and was very clean. Excellent pool and easy access to the beach. Clean towels every morning from very friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. I booked through Expedia/AARP and everything was exactly as stated.

Affordable hotel and awesome bar and grill!Posted Sep 13, 2015
We stayed at The Reef during Labor Day weekend for our first ever trip to Myrtle Beach. The hotel itself was actually quite pleasant and the amenities were similar to what we would've gotten at a hotel for other beach trips elsewhere. The only standing problems with the room that we had was the mini-fridge didn't really keep stuff that cold and we almost had some food spoil as such and the A/C unit. As for the A/C, if you don't have it on, then the room takes on the same humidity/temp that's outside but if you have it on there's no true circulation in the room since there's not an overhead ventilation system. The only problem that we had that stemmed out of this was that we both left sick because having the A/C on meant keeping it like an icebox. There was the dichotomy of either keeping the room too hot or too cold but not really a midway point. The pool and hot tubs were great, we never had a problem finding a place to lounge out for the day. The walking waitress that would serve drinks and food from the bar was wonderful and absolutely pleasant everyday. Mako's Bar and Grill was a go to every single day for lunch and for our drinking needs. Overall, I would love to stay at the hotel again if it wasn't in Myrtle Beach. We realized pretty quickly that Myrtle was just not the right beach fit for us as our usual go to is Wilmington and Kure Beach. Very different style of beach patrons and things to do. If you want a pretty decent hotel at Myrtle, choose The Reef for sure!

Super nice staff😊 Nasty hotel😟Posted Sep 8, 2015
Everything was very dirty looking.. Even my kids were not excited about staying there... And they LOVE vacations... Sorry Reef.. You need to pray for a hurricane..... Won't book through Expedia again, I will go check rooms before I pay anyone..... Lesson learned!
